Since Yao is out for the season we really have nobody under the basket besides Scola and Landry. Those guys are legit but they can't play center and they are not gonna play full 48 minutes.

Mensah-Bonsu, Dorsey? I am not sure about those guys. I know we still have Andersen and people around seem like they are sure that he is gonna come in and perform well. I wouldn't bet money on that. We'll see. It's 50-50.

We still have Brian Cook. I know you guys don't like him but, he has a GREAT range for a big man and he has player in the NBA before. He was a big part of LA team during 2006 season. So maybe he can really help? I am not saying that Rick should give him 30 mpg but he is a big body and can at least add another 6 fouls.

    What do you think?

I know, I know. It has been a LONGGGG and BORINGGG summer but I am serious.

In the garbage time he was given last season, once he got his hands on the ball he chucked it up and either bricked or missed the rim totally...

    He is worthless

I would rather see F'ing Stromile Swift man the Center spot than that laser shooting tub of butter that is Brian Cook...

Honestly I think the only way he helps us is with his $3.5 million expiring contract.

Problem with Cook is that he seems like more of a finesse player who can really only hit open 3's. He doesn't seem to rebound well, defend well or block shots. I just don't think he is an answer as a legit role player at the center position (or PF for that matter). Just seems too soft.

That's what scares me about this year's team...we are so undersized at the 5 and we don't have anyone that is a good shot blocker. The only thing preventing teams from scoring on us everytime they drive to the hole is the fact that our guys will take charges...but that doesn't always get called and can get us into serious foul trouble.

I would rather have DaDa suit up and play for the team than Cook

DaDa is 10x the rockets cheerleader Cook is

He would be interesting in creating space if we had a healthy Yao. A PF who could prevent the opposing teams PF from doubling Yao by making him respect the 3 point shot is intriguing. Other than that I agree that he is more of a finesse guy. So Hell No.

Honestly when Landry starting hitting 3's last year, I was so psyched for this very reason.

You know, I wasn't sold on Brian Cook before we got him.

But his performance that first game he joined the team, cheering from the bench ... well, he really showed me something that day. Total commitment to the team, true leadership from the bench, no ego. It warmed my heart.

Yeah, he can help. He may not see the court, but he'll fulfill his part.

I think it's pretty well established about how euro stats will translate into NBA stats. If Andersen comes in and not able to hold his own, I would think that's an aberration rather than a 50-50 gamble loss...

I would legitimately bet 10,000 dollars on David Anderson being a superior player to stinkin' Brian Cook, and I don't think I'd be the only one.

I don't have a single reason to believe anderson is a better player than cook.

What did you expect Morey to say? It's in his best interests to make Cook look good.

What Morey meant to say, however, is this:

"Cook: less fat than last year and shooting well. with the improvement he's shown, we might only need to throw in $2 million cash to get some team to take him off our hands instead of $3 million."

Cook won't be waived. But Morey will have many a sleepless night in January and February looking for an under-the-cap team to take him off the Rockets' hands.

Doesn't necessarily mean he sucks. If he was signed to a contract similar to anderson's I don't think people would be so ready to dismiss him.

REALLY?!?! Not a single reason?! To believe David Andersen is a better player than Brian freaking Cook?!

I have at least two or three reasons to believe that I am a better player than Brian Cook.

If you're looking for a reason to BELIEVE (not proof) that Andersen is better than Cook, take a look at the seven league championships that Andersen has won in Europe, while being a major contributor on each champion. Again, that's not proof. But that's seven really good REASONS TO BELIEVE that he's a better player than Cook.

And, seriously. Brian Cook. Have you seen this guy? Really! Seriously!
