So Barry Bonds has hit 39 home runs and its only June 24th . Fastest ever to reach 39 . Do any of you think he has what it takes to hit 70+ ? Amd will they pitch to him? ------------------
More opinions on this topic can be found here: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum7/HTML/004285.html I think he can do it, but not shatter it. I'll bet he ends up at around 72 or 73. Personally, I would rather see Gonzo stay hot and pass Bonds. I always enjoyed the attitude Gonzo brought to the game, as opposed to Bond's sour demeaner. ------------------ Beware the blank post! Also, Peter Gammons has an interesting article on the power surge. He looks at the athletes themselves, their conditioning and training habits. He makes a valid point. ------------------ Beware the blank post! Ain't Miss Be haven!
Does he mention the glut of terrible pitchers that now reside in the Major Leagues? ------------------ "For there is nothing either good or bad, thinking makes it so." - William Shakespeare (1564-1616), Hamlet
No tso much about who is pitching, but who is not. Like Gibson, Ryan, Drysdale, Koufax, and Dierker... Dierker? Yes, he put Dierker in with those names. ------------------ Beware the blank post! Ain't Miss Be haven!
The record makes no difference to me because of the horrible pitching, competition, and juiced ball. ------------------ "UNBEATABLE"
I don't think he can do it...he'll have to keep it up the whole year...one home run slump and its over...after he hits 40, he'll still need 31 more to break it...bonds never had a season where he hits even 50 homeruns before...he'll have a hard time reaching 60 with the media pressure... ------------------
