I was thinking of enlisting in the peace corps after I graduate college next year. Since I'm probably going to end up being a sleazy lawyer, or a ineffectual professor, I figured I'd try to give something back for a couple years. However, I'd like to hear about the peace corps with someone that has immediate experiences. I've already talked to all their PR people and those on their contact list, but I think that such people may only want to tell about the positive aspects. ps-I'm most interested in the Russian-East European projects, since my specialization is in "democracy building." If you know much about those regions, information would be helpful as well. ------------------ Why is it that everytime BC defeats a major conference opponent, that opponent promptly goes on a losing streak? PS. Notre Dame sucks
Here is a site worth checking out haven: http://www.concentric.net/~jmuehl/links/dontjoin.shtml ------------------ When we tire of well-worn ways, we seek for new. This restless craving in the souls of men spurs them to climb, and to seek the mountain view. -- Ella Wheeler Wilcox
My brother was in the PeaceCorps from 1982-1984. He went to Yemen and came back a vegetarian, hasn't eaten meat since. It was good for him and we missed him a hell of a lot! If you really feel college ain't for you and the army isn't either, go for it home boy! You're young! Two years ain't nothing to a young buck! ------------------ Whatever you want to do, you have to do something else first.
