    Camby out indefinitely
NBA's top rebounder set to undergo finger surgery

DENVER (AP) -- The Denver Nuggets suffered another major setback Wednesday when they learned center Marcus Camby, the NBA's leading rebounder, will be out indefinitely with a broken right pinkie.

Camby will need surgery on the finger, after which a timeline for his return will be set.

He averages 16.3 points, 12.9 rebounds and is second in the league with 3.12 blocks a game. His injury adds to a long list for Denver, which has struggled to a 14-15 record.

Already, the Nuggets have lost power forward Nene for the season with a knee injury. Kenyon Martin has missed 10 games with a bad knee. Earl Boykins recently missed six games with a hamstring injury and Greg Buckner missed three with a strained groin.

Camby played only six minutes Tuesday night in a 108-106 loss to Philadelphia. The Nuggets play Seattle on Thursday.

If Yao doesn't come back, then start Duncan at center and Brand at PF.

Ha I just posted this injury news in that "Camby's stats can't match Yao's votes" thread.

I AM SHOCKED!! CAMBY IS AN IRON MAN OF THE NBA!!! NO PINKIE INJURY CAN STOP HIM!!!

Never would have guess it either. Guess that'll keep his stats for the season where they are at least :p

I'm sure he'll be back by the All-Star game. Even if he is Mr. Glass, he can still tape his pinky to his ring finger and play. Of course, he'll probably have 3 more injuries between now and the All-Star Weekend.

Dude. It's got to be Eric Dampier. The second best center in the NBA.

Either Mehmet Okur or Brad Miller should start.

they need to put duncan at center anyway and let brand start at PF even though i'm partial to KG starting. brand is having an MVP type season and it would be a shame if he couldn't at least start in the all-star game, but hey that's what happens when you have fans vote. it's all about favorites, that's why yao starts.

For the season, I'm disappointed in the Nuggets, but except for the TOs, Melo has really stepped up his game. I wonder if being in a contract year has something to do with it.

Losing Camby for any length of time really stinks, but he averages only 54 games/yr over his 9 yr career (48 over the last 5). That's what you get with him along with his skills.

Melo has been absolutely unbelievable the last few weeks. The TO's are still a problem, but he gets most of them by trying to initiate contact close to the hoop, so I'm not going to rip them too much.

Camby's injury history is suspect, but he has really turned it around with the Nuggets. He gives a lot of credit to Steve Hess, our strength and conditioning coach (and possibly the most unintentionally funny person in the league). The first year with Denver, he was still nursing an injury from his time in NY. The next two however, he played 72 and 66. Hardly gladiator numbers, but solid.

I'm just pissed because it would have been great for Camby to start. Now with Camby and Yao out (the only two centers in the West I like), we might have to watch Mehmet Okur in the all-star game. Ugh.

LOL! Thanks Camby, now I can collect on that bet I made  :D

Seriously, I haven't seen more of a 'Mr. Glass' type player like this since the Grant Hill / Penny Hardaway injuries.

Actually, IMO, it's not such a bad thing that if those two guys don't play, that will only leave more room on the squad for the deepest and most talented position in the Western Conf -- PF. This way, KG, Duncan, McGrady, Brand, Amare may be, and other forwards like Lewis would get a chance to make the squad, it would make it more fun and up the talent level of the Western All-Star squad.

    set back from marcus camby?

Negative, this is to be expected. They should have thought, "we got camby for about 30 games this year, we should spread it out and maybe save him for the playoffs." Only a stupid team would play camby more than 30 games a year.

Don't they know that he's made of glass? His cousin is Samuel L. Jackson from unbreakable.

I could be wrong, but I believe that two centers have to be on the squad. League requirement. 2 centers, 4 forwards, 4 guards, 2 utility.
