Hmm, anybody else notice that once the Rockets let Calvin go, it seems the Rockets have gone thru the worst spell of injuries in the history of the franchise? Its like Calvin was the good karma, and once they abandoned him when that case came up, all these out of the blue injuries have started to happen. IMO, we need to get him back involved with the franchise some how some way
bring him back. i loved hearing him and bill talk about whatever random baked good people sent them. those guys are the best color-play by play combination ever.
He was still around when injuries hit each of the "big 3" in 1997. (did you see their record when all 3 played? They could have ended up winning 65+ games). He was still around when Barkley's tricep popped in game 4 of the first round playoff game against the Jazz (a series we would have won as a #8 seed, if he didn't get hurt at that moment). He was still around when Francis missed almost half a season due to "migrains"... of course, that got us Yao. Maybe the culprit is KEITH JONES!!! But honestly, health is just as big of a key component to "winning it all" as talent/skill and execution. Its just as lucky to have a "healthy" team as it is to be right when it comes to drafting/developing a Yao Ming or Dirk Nowitski.
Although I liked the Bill/Calvin combo I did not like all the fooling around with the baked goods. It's not a comedy show but a sports contest and serious accurate commentary is appreciated. Bring back Calvin, after all he is a rockets 'Hero'
I have to say this team has been cursed for a loooong time. but you know what, we have also been blessed with great lottery luck during years with great big men in the draft. in fact, i'd say that the lottery luck (including the Moses "lottery") is being diametrically opposed by the injury curse. It's like the bball gods want us to have the great centers but still want to make us work for it. Unlike SA, who gets the luck with no curse. What's up with that! bastids.
I swear to God, there was one game back in 02 where Bill and Calvin -after eating some cookies- sounded high as hell. They laughed constantly for the last 5 minutes of the broadcast. It was.....AWESOME.
