OK, Horn fans... can you help me out some here? I've been trying to trade two Big XII seats (lower level, 50 yard line) for two tickets to the OU game. So far, it's been unsuccessful. So, I've pretty much come to the realization that I'm going to have to buy a ticket. Here's a few questions. First, how scrutinized are the student tickets? I'm not a student at UT this semester, but several of my friends are, so I would have no problem getting an ID. I've heard all sorts of stories about the security at the Cotton Bowl. I've heard some people say that they haven't even had their ID's checked... and others have said that they've had them scanned. If I have a current ID, but it is not mine, do you think that would work? And, are there any other popular Longhorn boards besides the ones at Hornfans? I look there frequently, but the more the better. I'm also checking ebay. I'm only willing to spend a max of $200. I've seen some people get them for around $175, and I know they will likely be cheaper the day of the game anyway. If it comes down to it, I will wait. But, I don't want to if I don't have to. Also, does anyone know the exact sections/side of the field that is UT this year? I have a map of the Cotton Bowl, but it doesn't have home/away designations. I have heard bad stories in the past about UT fans in OU sections, and I don't think my OU sucks shirt would help things. On a related note, is there anything necessarily good or bad about some parts of the stadium and the view that some people might not realize? Thanks for any help here. If any of you have tickets, or know someone with tickets, and are looking to sell one, please tell them to email me at SlamDuncan2121@aol.com. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I thought you were actually going to UT. You could pretty easily buy tickets at the game from scalpers. That's probably your best bet. If you only need 2, then the longer you wait the cheaper they'll get. I've heard they don't check you ID at all for the OU game. Obviously alot of the scalped tickets are student tickets, but since it's basically an away game I don't think they wouldn't let you in if you didn't have an ID. At home UT games, they don't scan your ID, they just look at it, so even if they check it, just flash it quickly. I really doubt they'd check ID though.
Well, I planned on going to UT for over a year, but some problems came up with housing (they tried to put me in temporary housing, etc., long story), so I decided to stay in Beaumont (Lamar) for a semester or a year and transfer. I had my admission deferred until the fall of 2003, but I am trying to get them to change it to the spring... will see what happens. I'm probably just going to be getting 1 ticket for the OU game. A friend of mine and me were trying to trade in the two lower level Big 12 for them, but since it doesn't look like that will be happening, he doesn't want to pay the $200 bucks it looks like it will take for a ticket. Thanks for the info on the ID, though... it may be worth the risk.
I'd try to see if a ticket broker will trade you for OU tickets. A lot of UT people don't want to trade cause its not a guarantee. Plus Oct 12th is the Big 12 championship. A ticket broker might not give you great seats but a smart one will get you in the building. Those field 50's are worth a lot.
