The issue I'm having is that when I press the Tab key, the data will be entered, but the selected cell will no longer automatically move to the next cell in the row. So now, I'm stuck having to press the Tab key twice to move to the next cell, whereas in the past all I had to do was press the Tab key once to have the data entered and move to the next cell. Does anyone know how to alleviate this problem?

    Thanks to all that reply!

Don't know what the deal is with your Tab key, but in the meantime, why not just push Enter instead of Tab. I think ti does the same thing.

Actually, the same thing happens when I press the Enter key - I have to press the Enter key twice before the cell will move. It's beginning to seem as if this may be something I'm going to have to learn to deal with.

The tab key moves over to the next cell in the row and the enter key moves to the next cell in the column. My boss has given me some excel hell at work but I dunno what the deal with the two tabs to get over to the next cell is about...

The default setting is for the 'Enter' key to move down after being pressed. However, the direction can be adjusted (to left, right,up or down) in the 'Tools -> Options -> Edit' menu.

As far as the double commands go, I have no idea. But I would start with rebooting your system and checking to see if there are any macros running.

Do you know of a way to disable all macros running in a spreadsheet?

When you open the file, there should be a prompting (security warning) asking you to enable macros. The default security level ('Medium') should give you this option of whether or not to enable macros, if there are any present in the worksheet.

The idea of a macro is just a slightly possible solution ... I really don't see much purpose in creating code in order to increase the number of keystrokes needed to perform an action - so I am not sure that is your solution.
