I strongly believe next year is THE year, unless the BCS screws us with that strength of schedule part. Our schedule is definitely in our faovr again. No K-State or Nebraska. The one moderately tough early non-conference game (North Carolina-- last year was Stanford) is in Austin. Colorado should be improved, but they have to come to Austin. A&M is tough at Kyle Field, but we are on the rise and they are on the decline. We should beat them. That leaves the one tough game against OU, and I like our chances there too. We have the revenge factor on our sides, we are more prepared for their offense, and Heupel is gone. I think without a doubt Simms should be our quarterback. Major is a good quarterback, and arguably the best in UT history, but with our current scheme and the college football landscape I don't think he is the type that can lead you to a national championship. Chris Simms is. Simms has all the tools- he has the accuracy to throw the short routes, the arm that Major lacks to go deep, and he has also been very very smart since coming in at the end of the season. He also has the all important factor of mobility that Major doesn't. Major is a good quarterback, and I appreciate all he's done for Texas. But I don't see a Major-led team being any better than 10th in the country or so. I don't see him as a quarterback capable of leading a team to a national title. I see that with Chris Simms. Start Simms. Also, I think it'll be very important next year to see if Cedric Benson can make a big contribution in his freshmen year. He has all the potential in the world, and I assume we won't redshirt him. If he can produce nicely as a freshman, we'll have an awesome tandem at RB with Heyter, Benson, and Ike. Also we should get our tight end's back- I believe we were down to our 4th stringer by the Holiday Bowl. Anyway, I strongly believe this team is capable, with the talent and the schedule, of making a SERIOUS run at the Rose Bowl (the national title next year).

Simms is the starter. We have a soft schedule, and should be favored in every game we play (maybe even OU). I've seen preseason polls with UT as high as #2 and as low as #8. Any finish lower then 8 would be a disappointment. I expect UT to fully run the table, but I'm also biased as heck.

As for the tickets, most students get the sports package, and you are able to draw tickets. When you draw your tickets, look for the line that says "Draw with purchase" and I think you can buy an extra ticket or so there.

I don't know how season tickets would work. I don't know if the students get cheaper tickets then the alumni, or whether you can buy a season ticket (at a possible discount) for friend or family.

What in Mack Browns career leads you to believe he will ever be able to run the table?

He simply is not a good gameday coach, hence the ZERO conference titles in his 13 year career. The Horns have the talent, but I just can't see Mack winning at College Station, vs OU, THEN beating Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship game THEN beating the number one or two team in the nation.

He is GREAT against inferior competition, but less than stellar .vs equal or comparable talent.

Sorry he won’t win all those, his coaching blunders will cost at least one of those games....then he will go in the locker room and cry like a little baby and come out and blame the UT fans for putting to high of expectations on his team.

The guy is a 1.4 million used car salesmen in a burnt orange windbreaker.

Well, my source has been wrong before (see Mihm fiasco), but we just talked at the game on Saturday and he said that the school's happy not only with the quality of the coaching, but also the kind of players we're getting.

Barnes can coach any team of mine. He's very sure of himself, and he's very smart. His freshmen play with alot of discipline and speak well of him. I think the Horns are 12-2, and they basically have a new starting 5.
Any guy who calls out Dean Smith gets my respect.

Smokey, how did Shoening respond to Barnes ? I think Shoening is a prick sometimes.

National Title?!? Lets just win the Big XII Conference first.

Don't get your hopes up to high because you will be in for a big disappointment. That's what I've learned from being a student at UT. I'm tired of hearing "next year" or "we are young and inexperienced". We have the talent to be successful. We just haven't put it together on the field.

North Carolina at home is no easy win (1999 at home vs NC State). Rivalry games vs OU and A&M are always tossups. CU and at OSU could give us trouble.

To run the table, we will have to play either NU or KSU in the Big XII Championship Game in Dallas. I don't see us going 12-0, but then again no one expected OU to go 13-0.

What we should be talking about is the job Rick Barnes has done with basketball. He has maximized his players to their potential. Now there is talk about getting rid of Barnes. That would be a shame cause the man they need to get rid of is Mack.

I haven't heard any talk about Barnes leaving. All I've heard from sources close to the team is that the school is in love with Barnes.

gr8-1, I think your sig says all there is to say about how good a coach Mack Brown is.

I read it a couple of weeks ago on a Horns BBS. Seems there is tension between Dodds & Plonsky and Barnes. It might come from Barnes blasting fans in the media for attendance. I like Barnes and he had every right to say something.

I also read Barnes tore up Bill Schoening's (sp?) postgame analysis on the radio by saying people in the media who have never played sports have no right to complain. Then he asked Schoening to diagram a zone defense which Schoening couldn't do.

But then again my source isn't anywhere close to the team.

The Titans are no ordinary football team. Their team is the best in football. Their kicker is the worst in football. Do we see another Janikowski situation brewing?

Please do something, Greco is killing me, and the Titans. Change is needed NOW.
