PG: Marbury, Robinson SG: Crawford, Richardson SF: Houston, Hardaway PF: Davis, Rose, Taylor C: Curry, James, Ariza Head Coach: Larry Brown Ill admit I think Thomas is an overspending, egotistical headcase of a GM, but hes slowly put together a great team. He may overpay but he overpays for quality players. With Thomas (all potential, no substance), and Sweetney (undersized) gone for Curry and Davis, I really think they were the missing pieces for a great team. I know curry is at risk, but hes only 22 turning 23 this season. I honestly think the bulls just didnt want to pay him, now they have all the cap space in the world. And they got something in return for Curry. What do you guys think?
I'm inclined to think you're crazy. That being said, we'll see who's crazy 82 games from now (not counting the preseason, natch).
2005/06 New York Knicks Payroll: $108.4 million 2005/06 Estimated NBA Salary Cap: $45 million Roughly: $63.4 million over cap I believe this estimate was before their latest acquisition. So if they give Curry a huge extension, they'll be competing with the Yankees soon. I find it pretty sad that being well over 60 million over the cap, they'll be fighting for the 8 seed in the playoffs. Dallas may spend tons of money, but at least they know they'll be a real contendor every year.
I expect Dallas to suffer badly in the leadership department. Dirk flops a great game and fills up the stats sheet, but Finley was their Leader. Remember when Dirk humiliated his teamates while he himself was playing awful and like a sissy. You lead by example, and he definitly doesnt have the demeanor to do that. I think this year Dallas falls out of it. They lost a ton of depth. I think theyre contending days are over.
I don't really like the backcourt. Marbury and Crawford (not to mention Robinson ) are redundant. Houston and Penny are all but finished. Q is really nothing more than a chucker as well. Their inside game is improved now that they don't have to rely on James, but will all the trigger-happy guards feed Curry, provided he's healthy?
Contending for a playoff spot maybe, but never a title. Until they learn to play defense and get a post game, they will be 1st and second round material and nothing more.
As far as i remember, Marbury never average double assists in his career. Crawford is a career 40% 2pt FG and 34% 3ptr FG... dont think you can call that sharp shooter.... Robinson reminds me of Spur Webb
They needed Yao Ming badly to justify those $1,000 seats. It's a servicable team, but 5 years ago, a team with that roster not making past the first round would get their coach fired.
Little thin if those are their small forwards. I think penny and houston have maybe one good knee left between the two of them.
Their frontcourt is a garbage dump of pricey has beens aside from the RZA and Curry. So....you crazy, so crazy zeke wants to have yo baby. .
So, who's going to play defense again? Evidentally, as part of the agreement, Antonio Davis will be cut and will resign with the Bulls. Curry is worth a gamble, but depending on him to actually earn a $60 million is the kind of thing only a crazy assed Knicks gm would try. I am not even talking about his potential heart problems. I am talking about his lazy and unmotivated problem. He's a below average rebounder and just does not give enough interior defense for a man of his size. Sounds like a lot like Mo Taylor. I think Larry Brown is worth five to ten wins all by himself, but that still makes them about a .500 team. They won't sniff a championship unless Patrick Ewing hooks the Knicks up with seats at the Toyota Center next June.
I couldn't disagree more. At PF/C, the Knicks have probably the most overpaid/overthehill/underacheiving cast of guys thats ever been assembled. They also have a washed up/overpaid tandem at SF in Houston and Hardaway. Nice combo guard backcourt in Marbury and Crawford buts thats not enough to carry them. However, it should be enough to get them a lower seed. If not, Isiah is going to be out on his can.
The Curry trade is still up in the air pending the results of his physical... to which he hasn't showed up
correction: the physical has been conducted, he just hasn't reported to the Knicks training camp yet. If the deal is to be voided, we'll know by the end of today.
Funny, in your roster breakdown the one player you missed is perhaps the one player Larry Brown seems to love the most early on, and that's 1st round pick David Lee. Looking at the Knicks roster, I dont see a lot of blue collar Larry Brown players. The team has some talent, but is a trainwreck at the same time. I dont see any chemistry there. Just a bunch of mish-mashed parts assembled by Thomas. My guess is a number of those players will be traded again this season in favor of "Larry Brown" type blue collar players. P.S. Ariza is a SF, not a center.
You're crazy. BTW, no way Houston starts, he might not even get off the bench. You'll most likely see Q starting at SF this season.
