Report: Calendar Showed Plane Crashing Near Manhattan

    NewsMax Wires
    Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001

A calendar which was printed in Egypt and for the month of September shows a crashing passenger plane with Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty as a backdrop -- and which was printed in May, a full three months before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on America -- has caused an uproar in the Dutch town of Almere, Netherlands, the newspaper De Telegraaf reported yesterday.

The calendar was distributed at an Islamic school long before the World Trade Center attacks. Mayor Hans Ouwerkerk, who was alerted to the calendar's existence in the local Islamic school in the town of Almere, immediately notified the Dutch internal security service (BVD) about the strange coincidence. The BVD is reportedly investigating the matter.

"I am supported by Allah, to die for Allah" was quoted on the calendar, the same words reportedly used by an EgyptAir pilot who allegedly crashed a jet in November of 1999.

The Almere Town Council has "urgently advised" the management of the Islamic School Foundation to "cooperate with the Dutch authorities and help determine the calendar's origin."

Deputy Mayor Henk Smeeman said the distribution of such controversial Islamic-extremist fundamentalist propaganda material "cannot be tolerated in Almere. The Town Council is a strong supporter of maintaining good intercultural relationships with one another," he said. Some of the calendar's other illustrations show a stone-throwing Palestinian demonstrator in front of the Al-Aksa mosque in Jerusalem, an Egyptian military assault during the six-day war against Israel, and a futuristic image of a Palestinian "freeing" of Jerusalem.

The head of the Islamic school, Mrs. Dekker, allegedly had a large number of calendars in her possession from the end of May to the beginning of June, well-informed sources informed De Telegraaf. When confronted with the calendar images, she responded in a shocked, startled manner, asking "How did you get this" before shrouding herself in silence when further questioned by journalists.

De Telegraaf also reported today that Dutch authorities abruptly closed the major traffic arteries into Rotterdam and Amsterdam through four river tunnels -- in immediate response to a highly detailed letter to the Dutch news agency ANP that described the exact time (8:10 a.m.) and the colors and types of vehicles that would have been used in a closely timed wave of suicide attacks at
the height of rush hour in two of the world's busiest harbor cities.

Dutch police arrested a large number of individuals who had been identified by the anonymous tipster, who also warned that a great many other terrorist attacks would be carried out worldwide. Collapsing these riverine tunnels would have meant the immediate closure of these busy international harbors, seriously disrupting international trade.

I'm not saying the article isn't true, but from following Usenet newsgroups for a while now, they aren't considred a very reliable source of info.

That was one of Jimbo's sources. It seems to be a conservative propaganda news magazine.

It just seems probable that a story such as this would be covered by several other media outlets. If that doesn't happen in the next day or so, I call bull****.

    These people are crazy.

Pole, it's kind of weird. I considered myself a liberal, but as a grow older, I'm moving towards the right. My friends always told me that's the case.

Maybe Clutch should set up a special "hoax forum" that could be home to Nostradamus threads, devil's-face-in-the-picture threads, and crap like this from lunatic-fringe websites.

What amazes me most is that people go out of their way to find this garbage and then post it on message boards, like it's "cool" or something.

Glad you find 6,000 or so bodies blown to pieces and/or incinerated such a source of entertainment.

Swopa, I don't think anyone finds it funny or entertaining. I think alot of our reactions are more like "What the ****?" How could they?

I can't speak for Swopa, but I think more people are worried about spreading rumors and stories that get passed from email to email as being true. My suggestion is that we do a bit of research as to whether or not the story is true or at least take into consideration the credibility of the source before we add fuel to the rumor fire. The Clear Channel, Nostradamus, etc. threads are examples of some of these that just went crazy with incorrect info.

That being said, I don't know whether the calendar story is true or not, but I'm getting to the point that unless 3 MAJOR news sources don't produce the same story, I don't necessarily believe it.

    Pole,

    Why is that?

Why can't you focus your anger/hate at the radical Islamic terrorists responsible for the attack? Why would you need to focus on a RACE?

Why don't I have the same problems so many Americans have, which is to separate individuals from the larger group(s) they belong to?

Hey Swopa... I'm just trying to keep my fellow BBS'ers informed with all types of info about recent events. I am certainly not trying to ENTERTAIN people with all my posts!! At least I can provide a link to the original story/website in almost every 'news' story I post.
Take for instance this post. There's not a link to anything, it's just a quote from a blurb from a TV newscast.

Maybe you shouldn't click on EVERY FREAKING MESSAGE that is posted.

I'm going to continue to post fringe news stories and any other stories I feel may contribute to discussions on this message board. Controversial, "cool" or not!!

If you don't like it go find a new message board to police.

Fox News Channel (not local fox news) ran a story on this last night (10/18) looks like major media outlets might start picking this story up...

I wasn't even going to justify this with a response at first. I don't get it, just because you don't like the article you're a human being, and people who read the article or wanted to read it enjoy watching 6,000 people die? That's why we want Osama bin Laden, because we enjoyed watching 6,000 people die. You don't like the articles we're posting, Nostradamus, devil's, so what. Nobody is making you read them. But I guess since people posted the threads with articles like this EVERYBODY who posted and responded to that thread worship Osama bin Laden and praised him for killing 6,000 people, huh? I guess you didn't read the posts where we wanted to tear Osama bin Laden apart, but those posts must not be true since we're a bunch of heartless bastards that enjoy a good mass murder.

    Hey, I hear ya Rocketball...
I did provide a link to the initial post and I vigorously checked the Fox News website, but they have no search function and I couldn't find it on there...I weighed heavily the decision of whether or not to reply to my own message, but I thought maybe someone else might have seen the story... anyway, I'm sure in a week or so there will be another link to this story...

    post on!
