Hebert's on Dairy Ashford across from Stratford HS is really really good, I'd recommend that.

absolutely. also buy a deboned stuffed chicken with shrimp or crawfish and rice, too. it's about $10 and is a great deal. oh..and pick up their pre-cut hamburger patties. man, i love that place. oh, yeah...don't forget a crawfish pie.

if you're looking for it...it's not directly across from stratford...but is directly across from Tully Stadium. at the corner of a strip center on dairy ashford directly across from the stadium.

Abesolutly Agree!! I work in the office buildings right next to Herberts and they have the best lunch specials for only $6.50! Chicken with shrimp or crawfish dressing and etoufee bread and corn. We eat there atleast 2-3 times a week, and they pretty much know what we're going to order. That place has all the meat and fixings you could ask for. Look at me, im rambling on like a little school girl because I love this place so much.

We boiled up 2 30lb bags this past weekend in Galveston. They were good.

The recipe goes something like this.

    Start drinking.
    Light fire.
    Keep drinking
    boil bugs
    Keep drinking
    eat bugs
    keep drinking
repeat until bugs and drinks are gone

As far as boudain goes, what part of town you on? I know this place by my house that people from all around the city go to. Its called Burts Meat Market. If you dont mind going to the ghetto, its on Lyons Ave in Denver Harbor (77020 zip code). That place is always hoping and the only place my family and friends go for boudain. That place is famous in houston. People all the way up from Mo City come to this place......

Word! Best smoked boudin in Houston. Get the extra spicy (it's not too spicy). They also have boudin balls.

Had a boil this last weekend - talk about perfect weather!

Used all the normal spices, but through in some red pepper to add some kick. I get my boudain frozen in Louisiana from the Boudian King.

If you're looking for new things to try - a buddy of mine in New Orleans told me a neat trick - take a can of sweet corn and remove the wrapper. Punch holes in it with an knife and throw the whole can in the pot. The corn absorbs the spice and concentrates it inside the can. Stuff makes my eyes water - perfect!

Do any of you know how well does boudain travel? I used to like boudain and its one of those things you can't get up here in the land of lutefisk and cheese curds. I'm thinking while I'm down in Houston if I can get some frozen or could the smoked boudain last for about 10 hours unrefridgerated?

I dunno. Could you possibly ship it with some dry ice? Can you do that through FedEx, UPS, etc.?
