C-Webb to Houston = nothing. The Rockets are going to have more issues than the entire NBA together next year. The news media won't even have to look at other teams for something to talk about. If Webb comes to Houston, the only thing that will happen is mass corruption between team members. No franchise postup player is going to get along with two franchise iso/slasher/cutter type guard. Think about it. What does Webber want to do? What does he like to do and what is he use to doing? Certainly not passing the damn ball to a bunch of cutters in his career. Also, unless Steve Francis wants to cough up his leadership position and take a sit next to C-Webb, this is not going to work out in the long wrong, espesially if he wants to become one of the greatest. Trust me, C-Webb is not going to be satisfied with scoring anything less then 20-23 points a showing. If this trade goes trough Houston still might not make it to the playoffs next year. Take a look at Portland, that's how the Rockets are going to end up like. What Houston need is a lot of good, hard-nosed, scrappy, role players(that actually helps their team), to surround Mobley and Francis(take a look at A.I. and Philly). This is how Houston should be, and what they should do if the organization has any sense. NBA basketball is about great guards. Houston has a great guard in Francis. The ball goes through him, the team runs through him, and they should not jeopardize the future of a team on the road to success by aquiring a free-agent that MIGHT not help the team much. ------------------
HEY! A webber thread! You know this place seems so dead now that the rockets season is over, you'd think we'd have more threads like this one talking about cwebb. Oh wait, I see one that's talking about the same thing right below this one. I still think it's a good idea to start a brand new topic, 3 pages is kind of big for a thread... ------------------
Get used to it, BGM. Summers here are not for the faint of heart. You should have been here for the Pippen speculation. The Webber threads are just beginning compared to that summer. ------------------ I always thought "With my talent, it's only a matter of time before I'm discovered". I agree with Verse that C-Webb doesn't want to be the man. He doesn't want to have to carry the team and take the blame if they fail. Francis on the other hand has accepted that this is his team and is willing to take the heat in the event that they fail. Also Steve will control the ball so Webber won't always have the choice to pass, but hopefully when he does he will. As far as scoring I can see Webb getting about 23 ppg and Francis being close to that. Mobley can hit about 18 ppg. ------------------
honestly, i don't thik c-webb wants to be "the man". everyone assumes that, but when have you seen any evidence supporting that claim? imo, webb wants to be "one of the men". nahmean? kind of like what worthy was to magic. or what joe was to zeke. or what dave is to tim. well, let's hope he's not as much of a b**** as dave is.
