    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap;_ylt=ArR1662CUoJfcPIP.VTIoJ28vLYF?gid=2009012112

He let DeAndre Jordon go off for 23 pts, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks in the 2nd game of his nba career over 30 minutes?

Good thing they signed him to a max contract  I still am waiting for Bynum to live up to the hype.

I noticed the story about Bynum's "big game" was on the front page of yahoo sports, but I was appalled when I saw Jordon's stats.

I didn't watch the game so I'm not sure how Jordon got his points, but it still is pretty surprising to me that the best team in the west with a perennial all star in Paul Gasol and the "next big thing" Bynum would let Jordon go off for 11-12 shooting.

Obviously the clippers have a lot of guys out so he got more touches then he would normally. But still, would you feel happy if you let Kevin Love or Brook/Robin Lopez go 11-12 on you?

Awesome defenses Bynum 11-12 shooting. The centers must have not played defense against each other.

Ok...I understand that Bynum is shorter than Yao...but if Yao scored 42 on those "seldom used" players, it really would be brushed off as a "He played against scrubs so that how he got his points." And yet Bynum is being touted as awesome.

Oh the joys of playing with the Lakers and the favortism it entails.

here's what I wrote in the other thread..

    ----
there was no damn defense in the LAL/LAC game.

every damn pick and roll had ZERO rotation and left the pick man by himself in the lane for a dunk. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen!

Combine that with the Clips missing all their bigs.. and yeah, that'll happen

Bynum really didn't play THAT well. I mean he set picks and got open for dunks. He caught passes and dunked them. Made a few 5 footers.
    ----

And I meant that in respect to both teams. The Lakers also played no D.. Jordan scored on a ton of dunks. Alley-oops. Tipped passes that mysteriously went to him for dunks. And yes, ridiculously wide open rolls after picks

So Bynum should not try to score because other's team defense his weak ? Stop hating, yes the defense was weak and he used it to score and that's okay.

no Kaman, no Camby, no Boom Dizzle.

the Clippers have a D-League product out there.

We are not trying to diminish his accomplishments, but rather it was nothing special considering that LAL and LAC both didn't play defense. Its not hard for a big man to own the post and shoot a high percentage from 3-5 feet away.

Let see Bynum drop more than 30+ on any competent defensive team or center/power forward (ie legit centers, and bulky forwards)

I don't know if you're talking to me, the poster above me, or someone else..

but that's not what i'm saying certainly. I'd hope anyone could do what he did. But that's actually what happened. DeAndre Jordan exploded for a career high.

I'm just saying that this one performance by Bynum shouldn't be taken out of context. It wasn't a "performance for the ages".. it wasn't a breakout performance that the #'s might suggest.. it was just what any athletic 7 footer would have done in this game on that team. Samuel Dalembert would have had similar numbers if he was in Bynum's place. Seriously. Steven Hunter. Javale McGee. If you watched the game...tell me what Bynum did that any of those guys wouldn't have been able to do.

It was a dunkfest last night. On a side note, I wish the rox had pick jordan over dorsey. I think jordan wouldve at least brought some size and he's 19 or 20. He has a nice body for a young guy.

i've never seen a defense that soft before, so i don't know that this statement can be accurate.

have you ever seen a team run 3 pick-and-rolls in a row, and each time have the same thing happen? Double the man with the ball, leave the pick-man wide open... pass to the top of the key (Gasol), 2nd pass to the pick-man for a dunk. Ample time for anyone to rotate over to Bynum, but they all chose to watch.

So yeah, that happens sometimes. But once it happens once, if they run the EXACT same play at the EXACT same spot on the VERY next play...most teams will make some adjustments. Anything! But no, the Clips let it happen again..and again..

He hasn't been playing well defensively this year but last night Jordan scored a ton of points with Gasol on him not Bynum.

Hey you better drop at least 40 when DeAndre Jordan and Steve Novak are defending you. Speaking of DeAndre, i was actually hoping we drafted him and not Dorsey.

Jordan is a long lengthy athletic freak of a center. The big knock on him is that he is a lazy bum and thats why he fell so far down the draft.

It was like the Lakers decided to let Bynum have fun with the Clips. They were missing their top 3 big guys and with Baron Davis out as well they were no threat, the Lakers probably thought that if necessary they only had to take the game seriously for a few minutes at the end if it was close. That's how pathetic the Clippers were last night.

I didn't see it but this doesn't sound like a special game for Bynum because the Clips didn't defend him. Sort of like Greg Oden's 24/15 against the Bucks with Bogut not playing.

Then again, this may be a sign Bynum will wake up for the 2nd half of the season. We'll see. Last year, he started slowly and was really hitting stride before his injury. If Bynum starts playing hard every game you can just pencil the Lakers into the Finals. No need to play the games.

I didn't see the game last night but watching jordan at ATM, the guy has no game outside of a dunk, so the hack-a-deandre would've worked wonders because I think he's like a 30% FT shooter. It's also pretty easy to score 40 plus on a guy in his second game when you're the 4th option on the court not exactly getting constant double teams like yao.
