Ivanka used Trump's office to sell green cards and get patents, but no one cares and didn't bother making a dozen threads about it.

okay, let's see if I can get this straight. In the other thread it was suggested that China's fast-tracking of 16 trademarks applied for by Ivanka Trump was evidence of her corruption

Here's a timeline of her business career, from https://www.townandcountrymag.com/s...anka-trump-fashion-brand-rise-fall-timeline/# :

2007 forms her own company (jewelry)
    2011 forms a fashion line
2015 Daddy Trump decides to run for President
    2016 Daddy Trump elected President
2016 Ivanka applies for Chinese trademarks
Jan 9 2017 Ivanka removes herself from her fashion business and places its management in a trust
Jan 20, 2017 Daddy Trump inaugurated
2017 the fashion company being managed in trust applies for additional Chinese trademarks (?)
March 2017 Ivanka goes to work without pay for Daddy President Trump
July 18 2018 Ivanka's fashion company shuts down, i.e., goes out of business

Nov 6 2018 it is reported that China has fast-tracked the trademarks that were applied for in 2016 and 2017, and awarded the trademarks in 2018--three months after Ivanka goes out of business

so lemme get this straight . . . this timeline--assuming I got the events in order correctly, so please correct me if I'm wrong--is evidence of corruption between China and Ivanka Trump? or am I missing something

here's the text from the AP article Sweet Lou shared:

SHANGHAI (AP) — The Chinese government granted 18 trademarks to companies linked to President Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump over the last two months, Chinese public records show, raising concerns about conflicts of interest in the White House.

In October, China’s Trademark Office granted provisional approval for 16 trademarks to Ivanka Trump Marks LLC, bringing to 34 the total number of marks China has greenlighted this year, according to the office’s online database. The new approvals cover Ivanka-branded fashion gear including sunglasses, handbags, shoes and jewelry, as well as beauty services and voting machines.

The approvals came three months after Ivanka Trump announced she was dissolving her namesake brand to focus on government work.

    ***
All the trademarks were applied for in 2016.

U think u see it all, folks stanning for silas, BoB, kpj and now we have os defending Ivanka trump innocence.

What can u expect from the poster thinking that Trump was hoarding secret classified Christmas cards.

The trump org is riddled with lawsuits and scandals, but somehow Ivanka who was an active member of the org is somehow impervious or squeaky clean. If u believe that sht, I got a treasure map to the Easter bunny eggs I can sell to u.

She still holds the trademarks and some of those for things such as voting machines. They are still of clear value to her and many don't have anything to do with her fashion business. If you don't see why this is problematic, then I don't know what else to say.

I don't think that's what the AP article you cited suggested, if I read it correctly those were all for fashion-related items. But I am in no way expert on All-Things-Trump, I will gladly and happily defer to your knowledge and expertise on that Trump-related question

I simply don't see the "this" that you're referring to. Perhaps if I could see the "this" more clearly, I would agree with you on "this" being problematic

ivanka business didn't go bankrupt hahahahahahahaha. She shut down her business after she made hundreds of millions of dollars cuz she thought "it was conflicting witb her responsibility to the White house.

You somehow forget to mention how Ivanka got her trademarks approved the same week that trump was negotiating a new trade deal. You think the CCP didn't fast track for concessions in the trade deal?

In 2019 she made over a millions dollars in royalties from her fashion business from her chinnese holdings

don't believe anyone ever said it did

on edit, from the link above:

July 24, 2018: The Ivanka Trump fashion brand announces it is shutting down. Abigail Klem, who took over the company from Ivanka, told her 18 employees Tuesday the company would close, the Wall Street Journal reported. Ivanka reportedly shut the company down due to frustrations over conflicts of interest and increased scrutiny. Going forward, the company will let licensing deals expire, but will continue to apply for trademarks to protect Ivanka’s name.

“After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington,” Ivanka told the Journal. “So making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners.”

In early April 2017, the government of China extended trademarks to Trump's businesses. On the same day, Donald Trump-hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-A-Lago and Trump and Kushner sat next to the Chinese leader and his wife Peng Liyuan at the state dinner.

Also during the visit, Trump and Kushner's five-year-old daughter Arabella sang a traditional Chinese song, in Mandarin, for Xi. The video, which was lavishly praised by Chinese state media, played over 2.2 million times on China's popular news portal, Tencent QQ.

She got 18 trademarks approved even after she withdrew her business license which is effin nuts.

President Donald Trump's daughter and senior advisor, Ivanka Trump, last month won initial approval from the Chinese government for 16 new trademarks, covering a wide range of products that include "voting machines.” The is the largest number of new Chinese trademarks she has received in a single month since her father President Donald Trump took office.

This is the third such instance. In May 2018, she received approval for several new Chinese trademarks a week before President Trump announced that he wanted to lift the ban on the Chinese company ZTE, for violating US sanctions. In 2017, the business received three new Chinese trademarks on the same day she dined with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The approval for Ivanka Trump's trademarks, which comes three months after she said her personal clothing brand was shutting down, occurred "while her father continues to wage a trade war with China," noted the public interest group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which first reported the approval.

@AroundTheWorld @Salvy Could you imagine the outrage from these morons if hunter biden got a trademark approved from china the same week that joe biden was meeting president XI?

Can you seriously imagine ? These low life morons spin braindead conspiracies about some ukrianian billionaire when these ****ers were selling this country out right under the nose of the office.

Its so disgusting how corrupt the damn Trumpers were. @giddyup

This year she shuttered her brand in the face of boycotts and retailers declining to carry her products. The Washington Post reported that Ivanka Trump would retain the copyrights and intellectual property associated with that brand and that she would continue to seek trademarks. The fact that Ivanka Trump’s brand will continue to seek new trademarks in spite of shutting down leaves open the possibility that she could resume her business after leaving her role in the White House. She retains ownership over all of her existing trademarks, and many of her trademarks will remain active as late as 2028.

CREW, in its report, pointed out two coincidences when China approved past Ivanka Trump trademarks. In May 2018, Ivanka Trump's business received approval for several new Chinese trademarks a week before President Trump announced that he wanted to lift the ban on the Chinese company ZTE, for violating US sanctions.

In 2017, the business received three new Chinese trademarks on the same day she dined with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Cute story of "shutting down" while applying for new trademarks and new IP.

I can dig up an article around the voting machines and nursing home patents if you like but I am guess that would make "this" more clear. But you have to wonder why the Chinese gov't would give Ivanka Trump, a fashionista, patents on those kinds as @astros123 has pointed out - the same week daddy negotiated a trade deal.

This isn't the only fortuitous coincidence that benefits the Trump children by the way.

Point is we make a big deal about a nonexistent payment to Joe Biden from ukraine, but are openly indifferent to the past abuses of Trump using his leverage to enrich his children and family. I recall at the time as Republicans defending it as part of being president and that "everyone does it"

Now it's not ok. The hypocrisy is just distasteful to me.

again, I got that answer already from this source cited above:

Parsing A Unique Int'l Class Of Goods Via Ivanka Trump's TMs

    https://www.irell.com/assets/htmldo...Intl_Class_Of_Goods_Via_Ivanka_Trumps_TMs.pdf

    where she writes:

The Twittersphere is abuzz with theories that Ivanka Trump holds patents on voting machines in China that may even be used in U.S. elections. Where did this notion come from, and what does it mean?

As is often the case, patents and trademarks are mistakenly confused not only on Twitter, but in the mainstream media. But does Ivanka Trump Marks LLC have "Ivanka Trump" trademark registrations in China for voting machines? Yes, and for electrified fences and egg candlers as well. These disparate goods are included within Ivanka LLC’s Chinese Reg. No. 19978295, registered on Jan. 14, 2019. Similar goods can be found in Ivanka LLC’s Reg. No. 19978288, "Ivanka."

Only one Ivanka LLC registration, for Ivanka Trump and design, Reg. No. 19978300A, has voting machines, egg candlers, decorative magnets, electrically heating clothes, electrified fences, hemline markers, dog whistles and other goods — and no optical wear. The social media red flags about Ivanka’s voting machine trademarks illustrate a basic difference in — and misunderstanding of — the American trademark system compared to foreign trademark systems.

To understand how an entity could end up with a trademark registration for goods of zero interest to the registrant, it’s helpful to review some background of how trademarks get registered here versus elsewhere.

and again it sounds like pretty much a nothing burger, but if you've got an article that explains why the voting machines and nursing home patents are a sign of the devil, I'd give it a look.

For what it's worth, I'll add as an aside that my wife has done some legal work for the university with foreign research in China, including patents and ownership of intellectual property that results from research--and it is a bewildering maze of international law to have to contend with. I can see where folks in the U.S. might do all sorts of things to allow for current and future contingencies when working with and in China.

again, you've stated several times that Trump "used his leverage," and again, you're much more expert in the Trump Department than I am, but I don't see where exactly the leverage was applied. The mere fact that China fast-tracked patent applications is simply a sign that on the China end of things, there is a chance that China (or someone in China) might have thought fast-tracking the patents and trademarks would curry favor with Trump. Seems to me like the morally-relevant individual agency here was on the China side of the equation. But I've not made a career of studying the Trump Machine

I did not follow the issue at the time, if you say that Republicans did this I have no reason to doubt you

LOL if Hunter biden had received special clearance the same week biden met Xi you magat trolls @AroundTheWorld @Salvy would literally be having a brain aneurysm.

Ivanka trump got her trademarks approved the same week trump met Xi and none of these MAGAT trolls have any issue with that.

Now you know why I make fun of your braindead hunter buden conspiracies. Whatever you trolls accuse hunter of is what ivanka did on roids

Given that the Trump brand is quite valuable in the world, gaining trademarks and patents around it and other intellectual property are significant.

The bar is quite low for proving things. The appearance of wrongdoing is enough to cause accusations and investigation against Joe Biden and Hunter, so the same standard can be applied here. As Trump was negotiating on a trade package when he received all of these 18 patents and trademarks, it's pretty clear there is a connection.

Alvin Bragg Goes After Melania Trump, Gets Shut Down By New York Judge

"Alvin Bragg’s case against former President Donald Trump is so weak and seemingly political that some Dems wanted him to delay it until the more serious cases against Trump go through the system.

But Bragg, who like many Dem DAs allows criminals to roam the streets with no consequences, needs this Trump case to stick so he can run on it in his next election. And avoid getting a real job because the tide has turned in these cities."
