(AP) -- Detectives are investigating a complaint that retired astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin punched a man in the face after being asked to swear on a Bible that he'd been to the moon. Officers were called to the Luxe Hotel on Rodeo Drive Monday and took a report from Bart Sibrel, 37, who said the former Apollo 11 astronaut had attacked him. Aldrin, 72, had left the hotel when police arrived around 4:30 p.m. and was not interviewed, said Beverly Hills Police Lt. Joe Lombardi. Sibrel, of Nashville, Tenn., said he doesn't believe Aldrin or anyone else has ever walked on the moon. He said he was trying to confront Aldrin about his 1969 lunar mission when he was punched. Video of the punch aired Tuesday on ABC's "Good Morning America." An early morning telephone call left at the office of Aldrin's publicist was not immediately returned.
I don't think Aldrin ever punched him. I think the video footage was all doctored. They could do incredible things with cameras nowadays. {leaning heavily on the sarcasm} Didn't John Glenn pop someone similarly a few years back?
That idiot got what he deserved. Those Astronauts risked their lives to do something that nobody in the history of the world have ever attempted. This guy spends his days stalking astronauts, what a freak. He can believe whatever he wants, but he should be charged with something if he is stalking Buzz Aldrin. Where can I see this video?
A 37 year old man was punched by a 72 year old man and contacted police to say he was attacked? The man was 72, how much damage could he do to a man half his age?
Sadly, this will now be used as "proof" by some of these conspiracy nuts. "Buzz was so afraid of the truth that he resorted to violence"
This is why the elderly need to be isolated and studied so it can be determined what nutrients they have that might be extracted for our personal use.
Call it an unfair generalization if you must, but old people are no good at everything. I doubt the punch did much damage.
I punched somebody once for asking me to swear on a Rockets program that Houston was gonna win the title in 2005.

If you saw the video of the incident, Aldrin was minding his own business (or trying to) and this guy followed him across the street and into the entrance of a building... shouting insults and BS the whole time. Aldrin kept telling him to leave him alone, but the guy wouldn't. He was asked numerous times to "bug off", and he didn't. The guy finally said, "Your a liar and a coward!". THAT'S when Aldrin slugged him, and a sweet punch it was. He was asking for it and he got it (He also has a book he's promoting about the Moon landings being a hoax. I'm sure this had nothing to do with any of this.). Let me tell you, I wish I was in as good a shape as Aldrin. He could whip a lot of you guys around here who are 20-something.
