I have some questions about buying a gun from a person rather than a store like Wal-Mart or a pawn shop. I'm looking to buy a 12 gauge shotgun for the upcoming rabbit, dove, and all other hunting seasons here in Arkansas. I have a person wanting to sell me a gun that fits the description of what I want. How can I make sure I'm not getting a stolen gun though, I mean like if a wildlife officer comes to me and ask to see my weapon and then runs the serial number. If it is not stolen, how do I show that I am the new owner of the gun?
WTF? Shooting little animals? I don't have respect for a person who doesn't have respect for other living life. Food is a different thing but for sport...
What if I want to buy one to shoot at intruders? (Which I do, but I don't know how to go about buying a shotgun)
"Some men hunt for sport, Others hunt for food. The only thing I'm hunting forrrrr Is an outfit that looks goooood."
Unless it is a really high quality shotgun, I'd buy a new one. Shotguns can wear out...especially if they have been heavily used in bad weather and were not properly cared for. There are many things you would worry about...is the gun stolen, has it been used in a crime, was it heavily used in bad weather, has it been properly cared for... Unless I knew who I was buying from very well, or its just a high quality gun that makes it worth buying used...I'd pony up and buy a new one. Especially with a warranty.
Hey, what are the laws on self defense like? I mean, if somebody breaks into your house and tries to take your tv and you "end them," will it just be "self defense, no problem here" or will you hear something like "this man wasn't armed and he didn't attack you blah blah, so you couldn't shoot him etc." I'm just curious.
I know that in Texas, if an intruder breaks into your home, you have every right to kill him. I remember police telling me that if someone is breaking into your house and you shoot him as he's climbing through the window, you better hope he falls forward. If he is even killed halfway into your house, there will be an investigation.
So if you have a shot gun, and you blast him right out the window, you are screwed? All kidding aside, so in Texas, inside your home is justification enough, that clears that up.
If you kill somebody you are going to end up in court, whether justified or not. Usually, you will be found to have acted in self defense. Especially if you were in your home and killed someone already in your house. The decision is this. There is a person in my home stealing from me...my wife and kids are here with me. I don't know if this guy would kill me and my wife and kids, or not. I don't know if he has a gun, knife, or nothing. Do I risk trying to get out of the house and calling the police, or would he confront us with a weapon? Would this guy have killed me if I had not discovered him first? You have to weigh the possible outcome to your wife, kids and yourself over the possibilty that you MIGHT go to jail (probably not). I'm not taking any chances. If I can't get myself and my family out of the home and call the police...I'm going to blow his head off. I'll probably not give him any warning if possible...I don't want to risk getting shot because I said "stop" or "freeze" and have him kill me then rape my wife and kill her. The man in my house is a dead man.
That sound you just heard was the shell being loaded into the chamber of my pump action shotgun, consider yourself warned
