i've been scouring the web for some good deals on used upscale cars... i've come across several used car lots that have pretty strong deals, but i'm wary of their customer reviews. for some reason, i feel more comfortable with the typical dealer-run lots as opposed to the used-only lots like nxcess, auto envoy, texas direct auto, xsell motors, expo motor cars, etc. and maybe a bit more comfortable with carmax.

does anyone have any experience working with these companies, or is anyone connected and willing to help out a cf'er? thanks in advance!

(target cars: infiniti fx35, lexus rx350/400h, bmw 3-series/lexus is)

Don't know about the others, but Carmax is legit. They inspect all cars they take in and make sure they're good.

The one time I bought from a used car lot, the car was still barely within the 3 years, 36,000 miles manufacturer's warranty. I bought an extended warranty a day later. Good thing I did: The transmission went out at 37,000 miles and again at 75,000 miles.

It's good to have a mechanic friend who can give the car a "physical" before you close the deal. If the seller objects, that is a red flag. Don't buy.
