I really feel that we should buy out Mooch and add a decent Tall / healthy guard/Forward who can shoot ( well! I am assuming no one would be interested in a Salary dump) Jumaine Jones with Bobcats would be a decent option ( just citing an example). Heck I would even consider Marcus Banks if Minny is willing to do the deal ( but I don't think the PG position is that big an issue now!). I am resigned to a PF-by rotation- never did understand the logic, either stro should be traded or given the start ( despite dumb plays)- when Tracy is doing his "volume Shooting" deal, he would be the kind of guy who could just crash the boards. I guess van gundy does not believe too much in offensive rebounds.
I think something like this would be a lot more likely after the trading deadline, which is only a few weeks away.
Our backcourt is so thin as it is. If you would cut Moochie you would almost have to replace him with another PG, SG or combo-guard. Plus, if you cut him you're still paying every dime of the contract he's on in addition to the contract for whatever player you bring in to replace him.
Moochie+Head for turkaglu from Orlanda. Rockets get a stud 2/3. Orlando gets a young player with potential and 4M+ capspace.
Surely we could atleast get a second-round draft pick for Mooch, or even an obscure, little-known player... I really dont think we'll buy out his contract...
Well! I dont pretend to know these issues too well- can't we just waive him? Maybe buyout was not the correct way to do this.
Moochie and Swift to GS for Pietrus and Foyle and their #1, or Moochie and Swift and our #1 to GS for Pietrus and Murphy.
Moochie and Swift to GS for Pietrus and Foyle and their #1, or Moochie and Swift and our #1 to GS for Pietrus and Murphy.
I am not sure of Orlando would do that- that would be a decent deal. Head could be useful though- he does defend well. Then again what would entice Orlando- otherwise!
no waiving or buyout accomplishes the same thing, you lose a player but still pay his salary....see Maloney, Matt like GATER said, it would be totally pointless
I do know something about contract law- maybe things work differently in NBA contracts- if an option is waived ( ie the next year) then I am not sure if there would be liability. Sure we take a hit on this year's pay + tax for including the additional player. Anyway- my last try at this stuff- my point being let us think of Dallas and San Antonio Match ups- Perhaps Bob Sura fans quickly forget what happened last year.
now you are talking about next year...next year is a team option...meaning it is up to the ROckets wehether or not they bring him back next year(06-07) His contract is guaranteed...so the team has to pay him for this year regardless of if he is on the roster or not. and what does Sura have to do with this?
The only reason to do this is to bring back JL3, which isn't a terrible idea... However, I wouldn't do this unless there is no hope for the playoffs at which point I'd like to see more of what JL3 can/cant do. As it stands there is not much point in eating Moochies contract to have Lucas riding the pine instead of Norris.
If you waive a player, you are still obligated to pay their entire remaining contract exclusive of team option. A contract buyout amount must be agreed upon by both sides and the buyout amount still hits both the cap and LTax. Moochie makes ~$51k/game or is owed roughly $1.7m for the remaining 34 games. He's not going to agree to a buyout and if he did they amount is so insignificant it's not worth worrying about. Moochie is a team option next season. It's time for all of us to move on. It's an incredibly small thing to worry about or hate over. This is our team and it's likely who we are going to war with for the final 34 games of 05-06.
Getting rid of Moochie to bring in a forward doesn't make sense. Deactivating Moochie to bring back one of our guards is what will happen. I'm gonna guess Baxter will be deactivated to bring back JB. Moochie will be deactivated to bring back DA. There will be a 2 for 1 trade before Sura is activated or Hayes will be deactivated to make room for Bobby.
Hedo is the cancer wherever he goes and he thinks nothing but himself scoring.I really dont wanna see her in Houston Magic wont accept this anyway...
The Rockets should not just waive Moochie. Can't they keep him on as a towel boy, or some kind of Rocket dancer? The Rockets should get something for their money.
