This is in response to a previous thread that informed the board about this deal (link below) and if the mods feel like this should've being that the end of that thread, feel free to move it and close this one. However, since this is a thread about what Buy.com failed to do, I don't want someone clicking on that thread again and thinking that Buy.com will do that deal (because people don't always read every post in a thread). http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=135921&highlight=Zune Long story short, paid for the item, waited for 3+ weeks. The item is apparently on back order for over two weeks and they've sent me two emails informing that they don't have the Zune and giving me the option to cancel this deal which I finally complied. My issue with it is that if they don't have that item in stock, they should've just let people know they're out of stock before paying money and ordering. Also if it's a special to drive people to your site and if you can't deliver deal you should not continue to have that deal on your website. That is all.
Just FYI, Newegg has the item for $99 also. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16855604004
That's part of my complaint, they still have the deal up but once you order, the status will be the "order is shipped to the warehouse" and then it will stay that way for 3 weeks. I've emailed them that after the first week and a half without noticing a change in the status or receiving the item, and that's when they e-mailed me explaining that they are still waiting on the item themselves from the manufactures. Yet they still have the item up instead of saying out of stock.
It's just the paint job that's driving the price down, the other ones are still relatively expensive (you'd think that dookie colors don't sell well would've being something M$ would've tested )
It's also because the next generation Zune is about to be released (supposedly in the next couple of days).
Hmm, then maybe it's good that I'm cancelling the order. Though the Black and White ones are still pretty expensive right now.
not trying to hack this thread, but ive ordered crap from there b efore (xbox live subscription card for 30 bucks) yeah, i still haven't received it yet. it's been 3 weeks. complained and said they would send another one. my other friend told me he's had problems with them too. overall, buy.com seems kinda crappy to me. sorry to hear bout your zune though.
I find it funny that these Zune Mp3 players cost the same as the Ipod series. Ipods are pretty much the universal digital music player. If you're an outsider, shouldn't your goal be to provide a cheaper, "better" alternative and gain notoriety that way?
No. The guy that headed up the XBox GUI team (I believe) is the one that's heading up the development of the Zune now. They've said that they're slowly building up the Zune from version to version - it's an iterative process, and they're fine with that. This is pretty much what Apple does - how else can you sell pretty much the same dang thing in different shapes and formats year after year? Also, you're selling the new Zunes a bit short. From the specs I've read, the new 80gb ones have wi-fi and wi-fi sync'ing - the ipod 80gb to my knowledge doesn't. The 80gb Zune has a bigger screen than the ipod 80gb. The 80gb Zune has an FM tuner, the 80gb ipod doesn't. There's also wi-fi "sharing" on the Zune. The Zune 80gb has landscape mode, to my knowledge the ipod 80gb doesn't. The background on the Zune is customizable (is it on the ipod 80gb? Not sure.). MS has also tied the Zune to their social networking site. I think the 4GB and 8GB Zunes come with a $25 Target gift card, too... or at least I saw something like that on some sites.
