i love yao he is the best thing that happened to us. he will get better at this but for now he is none other then butterfingers. i noticed he loses the ball alot in games. does any one else see this??
Yeah, it seems like he gets a rebound stripped away from him at least twice a game. He's obviously fatigued, and on that one play where he had an offensive rebound right by the bucket, he pump-faked and hesitated rather than just slamming it home.
I thought the term "butterfingers" was always used to refer to players who can't catch the ball. I know Yao can catch almost any pass because he has great hands. I don't think getting the ball stripped away from you would make you be called "butterfingers". Maybe the defenses are too quick for him or something...Either way, losing the ball is bad, no matter how you lose it. Let's hope rox can get over these two idiotic losses and win against the heat, get some momentum so they can go in strong against the pacers on national tv next week.
Yao's problem is in his technique. Sometimes, but not all the times, he brings the ball down on rebounds. This is a big NO NO esp when surrounded by guards with quick hands. Yao has to make it a habit of keeping the ball "up" over his head. Bring it down and you negate your height advantage. Once he gets this down, he will be unstoppable on the offensive glass.
hes great though and he'll get better at holding on to the ball but for now he is kinda like butterfingers
