@Buster_ESPN: An interesting possibility among the starting pitchers that the Mets are considering: Brett Myers, who is having a good season for HOU.
why is that an "interesting possibility"? i'd imagine most they are considering are around the same caliber of pitcher.
Might be able to get a decent prospect or 2 out of Myers...though it wouldn't kill me if we kept him. He doesn't cost a lot and has done a lot better than any of us probably thought he would. He's likely Ed Wade's best free agent pick up since coming to the Astros.
Agree. The only reason to keep him would be to have a veteran presence in the rotation next year, but I still think they should get some assets for him.
The only reason you keep him is if you expect him to be a type A/B compensation and will offer him arbitration and the picks are more valuable than what you can get in a trade. That option though leaves a lot of unknowns, and will cost $3 million just to turn down Myers' option. Then of course you could pick up the option and have the same choice to make next year, but then you are relying on him to continue his great play this season, which is a huge gamble.
Quit spamming this place with your crap site. Nobody is interested and it's against the terms and conditions of the site. Go away.
I reported him. I'm sure as soon as Clutch finds this, the poster will be gone. Every post he has is the same thing.
I think they are complaining that Rockets934life is really Buster Olney and he is just spamming his twitter account
There was a new poster spamming us with some website that apparently sells knock off Rockets gear. The Clutch Crew deleted all his posts, which is why you can't tell what we were talking about.
In regards to the original post, the trade market for Brett Myers improves every time another starter is traded. If a team (maybe the Dodgers or Twins) gets shut out of the sweepstakes for one of the aces, they'll be willing to pay more for an average to above-average starter like Myers. There is just no reason for the Astros to hang on to veterans. Barring some odd circumstances, the Astros aren't going to compete until 2012 and probably not really until 2013. Berkman, Oswalt, Myers, Wandy, and the like won't be part of the next group that gets them to the postseason. Might as well get what you can for them now.
