At least mc mark's are actually Bush quotes, though, rather than Dan Quayle quotes being used as Bush quotes. You'd think that as many times as GWB managles the language that people wouldn't have to attribute the misquotes of others to him. I know you probably got those from an email that was going around, so it's not your fault. I just wonder about the person who originally changed the Quayle quotes to make them appear to be GWB quotes.

A little funny that I picked up while searching for Bushisms. This video is allegedly dated @ 1992... 6 years after Bush "quit drinking". Other than the "past is over" one which I don't know about, all of the ones in that sig are Quayle quotes (and, of course, the 'to be prepared' quote isn't even an accurate quote since Quayle said "Vice President", but it would be quite obvious it wasn't a Bush quote if it referred to being VP.)

I don't see the big deal. If you take any one who speaks a lot, especially when answering questions and making unprepared statements, you will find a lot of mistakes. There's a bunch of "Goreisms" floating around as well. So what?
heh. bobrek, tell me you're not going to deny that w. is a little more tongue-tied than the average politician. politicians are usually able to speak ALOT more confidently "off-the-cuff" than w. is able to. the guy is simpy clueless without a prepared statement. that said, i think it's good that he has a good sense of humor about it, too. if he didn't, he'd be in for a rough four years.
There's a difference between being smart and being mistaken. The smartest people in the world are sometimes wrong. And it isn't lying necessarily anyway. Snopes.com has had these quotes on their website attributed to Quayle when GWB wasn't on anyone's radar screen. And I'm willing to take snopes word for it since they actually research these things rather than just believing whatever email comes to their in-box. It comes down to whether you want to believe the truth or just take the word of someone who is mistaken and quite obviously didn't research his postings. You can think I'm wrong all you like, but that won't change the fact that I am actually right. But hey, it's no skin off my nose. If you want to look like a partisan idiot by attributing things to GWB that Dan Quayle said, then that's your business. The world needs gullible people, too. But you've forfeited any right to complain about what people may make-up about some Democrat that you may like in the future (or you). Come to think of it, check out these kirkit quotes. By the way, looking around that Moby site, I see that he was taken in by the hoax email about the Lovenstein Institute and Presidential IQs. Apparently, one only need forward an email that somehow confirms Moby's worldview and he'll make a point of pimping it as fact without regard as to whether the email is fact or not. He may be a smart man, but he's also quite gullible, as well (assuming he doesn't know he's posting false information. I realize that may not be the case).

It's easy to be arrogant when one is 100% right as I am in this case. I am not trying to point out that I know anything particularly much about politics. I'm just trying to point out that you are mistakenly attributing Quayle quotes to GWB and you look like an idiot by doing so. But that's your business. The point of my post attributing Quayle's quotes to you was to show that just because someone puts a name by some quotes on the Internet doesn't make them accurate quotes. You didn't say those things that I attributed to you, and GWB didn't say the things you attributed to him. And the bigger point is: Doesn't GWB say enough stupid things on his own? im not the one being aggressive here. mr paige cannot prove that these quotes are by quayle. he could be lying for all i know. secondly, he says that most stuff on the internet are lies, but he gets his facts from snopes.

I also remember the NASA quote as well as the one about history... but W. does have a remarkable propensity for jumbling his words together.. Whether you think it's because he's a little slow, or simply not a good public speaker is your business.
So basically, when you run across a stupid quote, it's either Bush or Quayle. Not much difference. Don't see how that makes things better for either supporter.
