According to a Zogby poll, his approval rating is 49% while he's given a 50% negative rating. Same poll shows him losing to an unnamed Democrat 41% to 45%. I expect these numbers to rise as Dean loses momentum in the race. http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=786 A Washington Post/ABC News poll shows that domestic issues are hurting Bush, but he still holds an advantage in national security issuses, something a candidate like Clark or Kerry could definitely help the Democrats. The poll shows Bush with a 58% approval rating, but is barely beating an unnamed Democrat, 48% to 46%. Bush only beats a Democrat 45% to 44% when those polled where asked who is trusted to handle the nation's problems. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A29858-2004Jan19.html Interesting to say the very least. Expect a bump tonight after the State of the Union, but anyone who thinks that a Bush re-election is in the bag is sorely mistaken, IMO. A perfect world for RM95 would see an economy that continues to improve, more than 1,000 jobs created next month, no more troops dying in Iraq... and Edwards being sworn in a year from now.
Hilarious!! Pronouncing Bush to be dead BEFORE HE EVEN STARTS CAMPAIGNING!! The liberals are *creating* new ways to show their desperation!! PREMATURE
Please point out anywhere in the post where I proclaimed Bush dead. Thanks in advance. Do they teach reading comprehension in Waco or Rice. Doesn't seem like it.
Who is the next liberal to melt under the pressure? YEEEEAAARRRHHHHH!!! Dean showed he wasn't capable of handling the heat! Wait until Kerry and Edwards get their dose of the spotlight! Do I expect to hear some more YEEEEAAARRRRHHH!!!! You betcha! Let's retake these polls once the other liberals meltdown!!
Campaigning is all he does. Bomb Ay-rabs to show he's doing something for terrorism. Hey, don't matter none that we're bombing the wrong Ay-rabs, or the cousins and children of guys who might have anti-American-sentiment Ay-rabs. They's all Ay-rabs. They all look the same on F***ing Obtuse Xenophobes network (FOX News), anyway. Yee-haw.
OH MY GOD....Dean was hilarious the other night in Iowa! What is he? Randy Savage?! LMAO. He sort of lost it in that speech of his. My vote is for Bush, although it won't help him any since he will win Texas. The only thing my vote will do is add to his popular vote that doesn't mean squat except to the media.
If you want to talk poll numbers, how about the most recent Gallup poll which show Bush's approval rating the highest of any president seeking reelection since Eisenhower in 1956 at this point in his presidency. January Election year approval rating for last 50 years of presidents seeking reelection: Bush 60% Clinton 42% Bush Sr 46% Reagan 52% Carter 56% Ford 46% Nixon 49% Eisenhower 76% http://www.gallup.com/poll/releases/pr040108.asp

That might be interesting, except that the guy with the highest approval (Carter) didn't get re-elected, and the guy with the lowest (Clinton) did.
On the one hand, good point, as there seems to be almost no correlation between the numbers at this point and what happens thereafter, but on the other hand it also sort of deflates the point of this thread, except possibly the direction in which they're going.
but on the other hand it also sort of deflates the point of this thread, except possibly the direction in which they're going. I agree - I don't think raw numbers mean anything here. All that we can really see is that Bush is getting less popular - a positive sign. But 9 months is a LOOOOOONG time.
