I was curious so I looked it up! "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" will indeed be U2's 14 Album. So there you go Oski!
U2 is my least favorite popular band of the last 20+ years. To me, they are nothing more than a glorified Christian rock band. When I read in an interview with Bono in the mid-80s, where he was quoted as saying that "the history of rock music begins with Patti Smith", I knew I didn't want to have anything more to do with U2, and I haven't.
WHOA!!!! REALLY???? that surprises me you'd say that. first, 95% of their music speaks nothing of faith...and second...they're just good! in my mind, they're far and away the best band to come out of the 80's who weren't named The Police!
Yep, really. Their first albums were alot more faith based. As time went on, their music became more "secular" (for lack of a better word). IMHO, the best bands to come out of the 1980s were Los Lobos, REM and the Replacements.
well since we've never disagreed before, this clearly is a line in the sand for us. a gap that can't be bridged!
The Police were the best band to come out of the 80's although their best stuff was recorded in the late 70's IMO. Best band in the history of the world, if you ask me. Why did they have to break up? WHY WHY WHY?!?!??!?
You are gonna let one quote make you hate them. I'm sure Bono has said the history of rock started with like every band or artist he's inducted into the hall of fame and whatever he was listening to at the time the question is asked. But seriously, glorified Christian Rock band? I don't listen to Christian Rock, but I've seen enough infomercials and I even had to sit through a concert at a YMCA thing in North Carolina to know that U2 isn't a Christian Rock band.
