Folks, Bush pre-screens folks for his town hall meetings because he's a douche. I can't stand the guy now, but I voted for him twice for Governor and supported him during his first Presidential campaign. But now, all I see is a guy that is hell-bent of pretending that he's got some sort of mandate issued to him by the American people. It's just not true. I've become a Democrat, of the populist variety that once dominated Texas politics, so I am clearly biased against Bush and am not afraid to say it. Bush has pushed things so far to the right, and attacks those that criticize his policy agenda. Look no further than the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Sure, NPR is left-leaning, but it's analysis is at least byopic unlike Fox. As for the broadcasting big three, CBS, NBC and ABC, they are corporate owned businesses out to make money. I don't see the liberal media schtick Bush talks about as being anything other than bull****. Bush just wants to people to only hear what he wants them to hear. And for those of you who are Bush syncophants, just remember what Mark Twain once said: Being a patriot means loving your country all the time and your government only when it deserves it. Is Bush the only politician that pre-screens? I remember reading a lot about how much control Hilary's handlers had over who could interview her and what questions they could ask. But, this is an honest question... Is Bush the only politician/President who pre-screened people for town hall meetings? I'm going to guess it's not and what kind of makes me mad is when people take selective facts to criticize someone when people they support (or just other people they are indifferent about) do the same thing.
Good lord- for a minute there I thought Treeman had come back! Shoot. I couldn't wait to ask him about WMD.
A nice thread. I wish a lot of those people still posted, or were allowed to, or whatever. Clutch's new layout (very nice, Clutch!) shows a depressing lack of interest here, at least from what I can tell the last few times I've popped in. There's a lot going on. There just doesn't seem to be a lot going on here. Bummer. Keep D&D Civil!!
Man, what happened to all the old-time posters in here? Most of the monikers in this thread don't even make a cameo anymore. The D&D has been thinned down to a shell of its former self
Ya but a lot of the guys in this thread used to post well before the election and on a variety of topics.
What does an actor know about running a country? Who is to say these soliders can not one day turn into senators or even president? Wasn't Mccaine just a lowly grunt officer dunt Vietnam period?
