Well you can copy the songs from the cd to your hard drive, if that's what you're needing help on.

    Good luck!!!

You need to use some sort of conversion softwar that takes songs from CD and turns them into mp3's that can be burned. There are software packages that will do both. I think Toast does both. On Mac, there is nothing easier than iTunes.

Part 1: Many of the jukebox-type media players either have the capability to record cds to your hard drive as MP3, or you can purchase an add-on (which is what I did with MS Media Player).

Part 2: The software that came with my burner can create music cds from MP3's. Many, if not most, do.

Winamp3 has a CD ripper you can download. Just rip the songs to your HD (they will be ing mp3 format) and copy them to a cd (if you have an mp3 player) or use something like Easy CD Creator to make them into something playable in a regular CD player.

I would suggest WindowsMedia Player 9.

You can copy to the music to your PC in WMA format, same as MP3. You can also get a plug-in to do MP3s.

It also allows you to burn the WMAs to CDs, which will play in a regular cd player. Check it out.

Use "Copy from CD" and then "Copy to CD or Device".

Get Easy Cd Creator, Musicmatch Jukebox plus, or Winamp.

One part of the program will let you record the songs from your cd to the hard drive in mp3 format. Then another part of the program will let you burn to blank cd.

Your music will sound better if you record it to mp3 at 160 or higher. Look at the settings.

You could also get a sound file editing program, to customize your mix.

I usually convert them to WAV format w/ Easy CD Creator, then put them onto CD. WAVs sound a little better than mp3s.

I'd second that advice. Ripping them to MP3 and then back to raw audio will lose quality unnecessarily. As long as you have room on your HD, I would rip them to a lossless format (WAV or AIFF I believe are appropriate). A full-length CD will take about 750MB. Burn these files back onto a CD, and voila, CD-quality music.

As to what software does this, I don't know for a PC. iTunes works fine on a Mac. I would assume that Nero can do this, it seems to be a capable CD-burning program for Windows.

I use MusicMatch Jukebox (free version) rip a cd (convert a CD to mp3's) then using my burning software (Easy CD Creator 5) I drag the mp3 files i want to record to the blank cd, then hit record, sit back and wait for about 4 minutes, done, instant mix CD...

come and join the 21st century Smegster! rip some mp3's and make a mix CD!!!

ok i have the burning part down

the advice seems to be convert the CD files (cda) to Wav or Aiff files as Bailey says.

Yes i have hard drive space!!!

I have Nero, will read the user manual today and give it a try, it looks like it has the ability to do this.

Quick question - do i have to rip (convert) the whole cd or can i do individual tracks???

the nero media player rips to wav or mp3

Yes - you can do individual songs - you do not have to do the whole CD.

wma does NOT play in a normal CD player - if you rip the tunes from CD into wma on your hard drive, you will have to convert them back to wavs before or during burning.

The previous advice is very sensible.

    1. Rip from the CDs into wav files onto your hard drive.
    2. Burn the wavs directly to your new CD (keep them to 700MB max)

A lot of software will recognize that you are making a music CD and will "hijack" or take over the process for you. I'm not sure about Nero, but I assume it would be so.

Keeping the songs in wav format throughout the entire process will minimize quality loss. Using something like Windows Media Player, will convert from WAV (cda) to WMA and then from WMA back to WAV. No big deal really.

Songs on CD are essentially in WAV format - I usually make my audio CDs by simply dragging and dropping wav files onto the CD as if it were a data CD - and it works in all of my CD players.

As my brother always says, "Another sh!thouse day in paradise"! I'm looking out my office window at clear blue skies, the Swan River, and I can just make out Rottnest Island if I try.

Not too bad - great lifestyle, but a much harder adjustment from Houston than I thought. How about Adelaide? Getting excited about the wedding/honeymoon?

I'm only sorry I won't be able to make the party in Houston :(

adelaide is great, footy is about to start and the sixers get to beat perth in the playoffs this week :p

once i flipped the calendar over to March the closeness of the wedding and honeymoon hit me, lots of things, mostly small and easy to do, but nevertheless lots to do.

have a couple friends from perth coming over for the wedding, there engagement party is the week after so we miss that but hopefully we should be over next year for their wedding and will get that beer i owe you.
