MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Former Memphis Grizzlies and University of Memphis point guard Antonio Burks remains in critical condition a day after being shot during a robbery.

A spokeswoman for Regional Medical Center in Memphis said Tuesday morning there was no change in the medical condition of Burks, who underwent surgery Monday night after he was shot in the stomach.

Police said the 29-year-old was returned to the operating room about 10 p.m. Monday because of internal bleeding.

A police news release said Burks and four other men were in the backyard of a Memphis house when they were robbed by three men.

According to the Commercial Appeal, Burks was watching a dice game at the house when the robbery took place.

Another man, 44-year-old Vincent Williams, also was shot in the stomach. Police said Williams also was in critical condition.

Burks played two seasons for the Grizzlies, appearing in 81 games and averaging 2.3 points and 1.3 assists. His last NBA season was 2005-06 with Memphis.

According to the Commercial Appeal, Burks played professionally in Bulgaria and Poland during the 2008-09 season.
