Police in Stockton-on-Tees say it was one of the most unusual distraction burglaries they've ever encountered. The two men barged into a house owned by a brother and sister in their nineties just after midday on Saturday, reports local ITV news. One of the thieves then dropped to his knees and started to bark like a dog and crawl around on all fours. Police say while the shocked 90-year-old woman and her brother, 93, looked on in disbelief, the second man grabbed the woman's purse and the pair ran off.
I once saw a video clip of a high school basketball game that used this trick to score the winning bucket in the last second of a game. The team that was inbounding the ball was down by a point. One of their players got on his hands and knees behind the 3 point line and started barking like a dog. The defending team looked at him and was distracted for a quick moment. During that time, the ball was inbounded and a layup was made, winning the game for the dog-barking team. Brilliant!
My junior high team had that play in our playbook...we used it once that season too. I saw the play in the aforementioned game on an ESPN Top 10 a couple of months ago. The top ten subject was "Top Ten Trick Plays". It was pretty sweet. Had a lot of awesome football plays too.
