Just saw this at bskball.com's rumors section. This would be an godsend for the Rockets.I think Rudy would be sitting cool if this went down. [IMG]

06/21-THE BULLS ARE ACTIVELY IN PLAY- The Bulls have brought in basically everyone they wanted to see, and are now formulating plans and strategy. Krause warned media that in his mind this would be the hardest draft in history to predict, and said in his view the Bulls would simply have to plan for every thing possible and see what starts taking shape in the 1st two selections. The Bulls have an order they'd like to see the draft go, but they are developing bail out plans should the draft go in a direction they don't want. Last year the Bulls had plans to steal Darius Miles but were beaten to the punch by the Clippers, and were forced to make a decision that didn't pay off last year. This year the Bulls plan to have options should the draft turn against them as last year's did. One of those options could be sending the #4 pick to the Celtics for their #10 and #21 selections, with the C's grabbing Pau Gasol who did not remove himself from the draft class yesterday. Another exit strategy that's surfaced is a deal through Houston in which the # 4 would go south for #13 and #18, or the #13 and Kelvin Cato. Its been assumed the Rockets would go after Gasol, but team sources again say the team is not very high on the European forwards and would have more interest in one of the more proven talents like Eddie Griffin or Rodney White

I assume that the bryce drew pick obligations would be thrown in along with #13 and Cato. How good is that?

If we were able to pull that off, I would be dancin' in the streets. Or was it partying in the streets? ah, my feeble mind fails me in the wee hours of the morning.

Any deal for the #4 pick would be great, but I would be ticked if we traded up and took Gasol at #4. If we picked a guy that others (who wanted to trade up but didn't) had intrest in, maybe we could swing another deal after we drafted at #4, trading the #4 player if another team offered a sweet deal. You never know, GM's get crazy on draft night...

I'd take Griffin and/or White over Gasol any day. Any day.

don't forget about swapping player's in your orginal draft selections ala langhi/najera. we may not see a trade, but have an agreement with the bulls to select a player and then we select who they want and then trade after the fact...only finding out while the draft is actually in the fourth round,...two and half hours later! geez, haven't we waited long enought....

I wish Kwame Brown would be avaible with that pick, because I think he will be the best pick in the draft.

No we didn't, and if you are going t discuss Collier, why did you not also mention the pick we got in the trade, #22, which was apparently instrumental in getting us #18 - a pick which will no doubt be used if the Rockets manage to move up int he draft.

Or passing up Harold Miner to draft Robert Horry . . .

Or drafting Sam Cassell late in the first round out of Florida St.(I didn't even know the had a basketball team) . . .

Or drafting Cuttino Mobley in the 2nd round . . .

Or Drafting Kenny Thomas late in the first round . . .

Or trading away Dickerson and Harrington to get some guy, do you remember who we got?

I trust Rudy and CD to make the right move, they've certainly giving me ample reason to in the past.

No. We basically didn't. We basically gave up a 1st round pick in one of the worst drafts to date (that may change) for Jason Collier who may end up being a decent backup center and a first round pick this year that may get packaged for us to move higher in the lottery.

You, in other words, are basically wrong.

    Typical thread with RocketKid

Regular Poster: I think we should do this and here is why...

RocketKid: That's stupid! You're so stupid, on your job application where it says emergency contact you put 911. That's how stupid you are!

Regular Poster: Sorry RocketKid, but you make no sense, maybe you should look at facts instead of trying to be funny with your lame elementary school jokes.

RocketKid: Why's everyone so mean to me!!! I'm just joking, jeez you losers can't take a joke!! It's not like I killed anyone!

First off, we didn't. But, the only way to evaluate whether decisions are smart or stupid is to compare them to those of your peers. Name me one other team at pick 9 or later last year that had a better draft than the Rockets.

    Toronto - Morris Peterson #21

I'd take MoPete right now over Collier and what sucks is that he was still there at #15

Umm, 6'6 SF's don't make it in today's NBA, especially in the Western Conference. It's not that he can't play, but he is an SG who actually would've pushed Cuttino closer to leaving. And, I don't know about you, but Peterson didn't show much to me. When he started he got around 10-12 per game, played average defense, had a decent shot-- nothing special. I'd take Collier and a pick this year anyday over Peterson. We got pick 22 via the Collier trade, and if we don't have that pick we might not have gotten 18 from Orlando. So, we definitely got Collier and pick 22 this year, and depending on how you look at it, Collier, pick 18, and pick 23. I would much rather have either of those scenarios than Morris Peterson.

Yeah but would you rather have MoPete than Collier and this years 23 that could turn out to be anyone from TRock or VRad to Ken Johnson or Steven Hunter? I wouldn't and you need to remember that #9 last year was traded for Collier and a #1 that turned into the 22nd pick and was then swapped for the 23rd pick. I like that move by CD and Rudy better than MoPete.
