Kelly, is this yours? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/basketball/nba/09/16/state.bulls/index.html Nice read. Do you have any insight into the status of the Bulls' logjam at PG? I'm wondering if we have a shot at acquiring Duhon from them.
Yep. Looks like it's true. In fact, most of Kelly Dwyer posts on CC.net in the last year go something like this... Kelly Dwyer: "Kirk Hinrich? You can't have him!" The true Bulls fans know they have a special point guard over there. Dangit! We need to lure that guy over to the Rox! Sorry, Kelly! We shall now wait for the customary "Kelly Dwyer response..." Hey, I can still keep trying... Real Player ---> Kirk soars high!
Heheh ... sorry, I try not to fawn over Kirk too much, but when your favorite team has only one good player ... I do spend a lot of time on Manny's wonderful "CD player" threads, but I try to limit my posts as I'm embarrassed about having my own name as a handle. Yes, they are my articles. I don't mind looking like a Schmo and whoring for hits here, because I could use the page views. I'm writing season preview-previews for SI.com (if that makes sense), starting with Atlanta last Monday, with the rest of the league's teams following on a M-T-W-Th-F schedule. The previews can be found here: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/basketball/nba/09/16/state.nba.gateway/index.html With the day's current piece (today's is Cleveland) located on the NBA front page. I thought I was done with sportswriting last summer after leaving foxsports.com, but when SI comes calling, it's hard to turn down. The first few articles have been pretty hesitant, not that great, but they're getting better as I get back into the swing of things. Ironically, I finished the Rockets' piece tonight. Thanks for reading. I appreciate the kind words.
Kelly, Post it here so we can read over it and change everything to BEST TEAM IN THE NBA NEXT YEAR...J/J
Let me get this on CC/F.net before you all tear me a new one -- I want to love Boki. I truly do. Besides that, let me state that the world is a better place when the Rox are in the Playoffs. The Rockets' piece goes up next Friday.
KellyDwyer Congrats man! anyway i hope you include the fact the Rockets are THE sh*t!! and that Yao and Boki are the next Kobe & Shaq
the caption reads "kirk hinrich handed out almost seven dimes in his rookie year" haha... shouldn't it be "seven dimes A GAME?" lol... anyway, what's up with your editor? the way it reads now it's like he handed out six over the course of the season, and then when he was about to get his seventh, it was knocked out of bounds or something.
That was a great read thanks. I knew the bulls made some bad choices but damn they could be unstopable in the east right now. Cant wait for the next preview.
Wonderful article Kelly. Congratulations. I'm looking forward to reading your article on the Rockets.
Uh-oh, he's going to criticize Boki Nachbar in his article on the Rox. j/k, I'm not one of the Boki-faithful. But, I do feel sorry for you for when they read your article. You may want to spend a couple days away from cf.net.
naw....if you criticize Boki, you only have to stay away for one day....but criticize Yao and you should go ahead and ban yourself for ever....cause the Yao fans will never let you live it down. btw...good reads Kelly....looking forward to your other ones....be sure to let us know when a new one is posted...some of us dont check those sites everyday.
1) Congratulations, I had no idea you were writing for SI.com. 2) Rebounding like someone who is allergic to orange leather is funny. (Memo to Fran Blinebury -- you always try to come up with little chucklers like this and never do it right. This is someone doing well the thing you do very badly and very often.) 3) Dave Edmunds has no better albums than Get It. Nice reference. I'll totally read your stuff. nice work
Kelly, Nice article on the Nugs. There are some things I (obviously) disagree with, but all in all, you captured the team. One question I have though is, how is Francisco Elson "lumbering"? If anything he's too skinny.
Totally. I could write that the Rockets could win 78 games in their sleep, and I'll still get slammed. Such is the biz, I've been at it for a while, and I have thick skin. Of course, by "thick," I mean "thin, Irish-boy pasty-ness." Thanks again for reading everyone, and the support. I'm being as sincere as a smartass like myself can be: Rockets fans know their hoops, so it makes me feel like I'm getting something right.
Front of the CNNSI nba section At least as of right now -- 10:30 am pacific Friday 9/24 -- "In mastering the art of playing it safe, the Golden State Warriors have also become masters of the mundane, writes SI.com's Kelly Dwyer." Seriously, this is impressive. Congratulations. I will now read it.
