Sources: Bulls to free up cap space http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2010/news/story?id=5324240 The Chicago Bulls have a deal in place that would move Kirk Hinrich and the 17th pick to the Washington Wizards, freeing up enough cap space to pursue two maximum-salary players on this summer's free-agent market, sources with knowledge of the Bulls' plans said Thursday. It wasn't immediately clear what Washington would send to Chicago in the trade. The deal can't be officially consummated until July 8, when the Wizards will have room under the salary cap to absorb Hinrich's $9 million contract without having to send back anything of similar value. Since it's a good-faith deal for the time being, there remains a chance it could fall apart. But according to one source, the Sacramento Kings are prepared to make a similar deal with the Bulls in the Wizards' stead if that were to happen. Either way, moving Hinrich and the pick would push Chicago's space under the cap from $20 million to more than $30 million. That puts the Bulls on equal footing with the Miami Heat in pursuing not just one but two members of a free-agent class that is expected to include LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer, Amare Stoudemire and Joe Johnson.
I for one think this is great news.... This could have a great affect with our NY picks, with the Bulls being able to sign not one, but two top tier free agents....that maybe the Knicks are planning on signing shhhhhh.
Those Knick pick values just shot up a little more. I wonder if Morey will get someone to bite on them for something good tonight!
I think NY is the team most likely to overpay for the likes of Rudy Gay....I think the Bulls will end up with Bosh and Joe Johnson and Amare teams up with Wade in Miami.
Wow. Bulls could end up with Rose, Noah, Lebron, and whoever the hell else would want to join that team. I think Wade would bolt if the Bulls called him and asked...I'm not sure if Bosh would....Boozer would...Amar'e i'm not sure.
NY isn't getting Rudy. He's a RFA, I doubt Memphis will just let him go and not trade him. It makes complete perfect sense for the Grizz to hang onto him this year and hope he has a really good season so they could trade him all-star break and beyond.
The Knick fans are Jumping off the Brooklyn bridge as we speak. http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1023064&start=120
This only helps us lol. If Knicks strike out...and even if the Bulls take Bosh away from us...we have their picks and even if the Rockets stand completely pat and make no moves this offseason they are still a good team that can make the playoffs...and even go farther depending on the development of players like Chase and Hill and the return of Yao.
Knick fans should have known that from the get-go. Sure, they have cap room and the New York "allure" but no smart free agent in their right mind is going to a team that either 1. don't have a star there already or 2. don't have a young core of talent already established. The only Knick player worth mentioning right now is Gallinari.
as long as the knicks are out of it, it's all great news. Bulls are scarier than heat, heat will end up w/ wade + superstar, and guys off of the street.
It's unlikely the Grizz just give up Rudy. He's a RFA, not a UFA. He can't just sign any where, Grizz can match, and i'm pretty sure they will. Doesn't mean they want Gay past the 2010-11 season, but it's better to trade him around deadline time or when he becomes a UFA. It's like when everyone started to say "Durant is a FA 2011" he's a RFA, there is a BIG difference.
QUESTION: Isn't Miami still in a better position because they have wade and his bird rights? Rocket River
