Matt Bullard was interviewed on Fox 26 tonight and said that, while other teams have contacted him, he plans on being back in pinstripes next year. He attributes the interest to the new zone defense next season. Charlotte, the Lakers, the Clippers and Sacramento have inquired about his services. He said the Rockets have spoken to him as well and though he plans to be back, "It's nice to be liked." ------------------ How the hell should I know why God would allow the Holocaust. I love Bull, but does he really fit on this team? I would hate to see Langhi, T-Mo, and Griffin losing time to AirBull. I believe that given the playing time both Langhi and T-Mo will be able to fill the outside shooting needs for the Rockets. Come on Bull, play for one year for the Lakers, win a championship, then sign a one day contract with the Rockets and retire in Houston like you want(ala Thurman Thomas and the Buffalo Bills). ------------------
I believe that given the playing time both Langhi and T-Mo will be able to fill the outside shooting needs for the Rockets. Langhi didn't make a three all last season, and Morris shot 27% from the college range. Both can do better, but they don't make Bullard unneeded. Matt is one of the few guys who will play any position without complaining, any minutes without complaining, and will sit out several games in a row if he has to. You know what you get with Bullard, and he is about the best pure shooter in the league. He creates a ton of mismatches at the power forward spot off the bench, and his shooting will be even more important with the zone defenses in place. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. People underestimate Matt Bullard. He is a solid veteran who KNOWS HIS ROLE on the team. Quality roleplayers who KNOW they're role players are rare nowadays. Everybody wants to be a star. Matt Bullard is also versatile. He is a SF who can play PF. He is instant offense off the bench, and can step in when a big man is in foul trouble. Against certain teams he can play Center, and drag their big man away from the basket, and he's going to have a field day against the zone. Definitely bring back "Bull"! ------------------ "Win if you can, lose if you must but always cheat!" - Jesse Ventura
As pointed out in another thread, Langhi only attempted one three last season. But I think the point is valid that Bull played PF last season (and the one before, and the one before) and being brought in as a spot up shooter who knows what to do will be very effective and shouldn't take much time away from our younger SF's. ------------------
Matt Bullard is awesome!! He does whatever Rudy asks him to do, and he puts 110% effort into it. He's not of the athleticism that Langhi is, but he's an awesome shooter, and he can really do a lot of things. He's had to play C, PF, SF due to roster deficiencies, and he's one of the most likeable guys in the NBA. Bullard should definitely be back. Like RocksMillenium said, he is one of few guys that knows his role in the league. There aren't a whole lot of pure shooters at 6'10 around, so he is valuable. He may not play much for a month at a time, and then step in because of injury etc and come up big. Plus, at 6'10, he causes matchup problems when played against shotblocking centers. For $1 mil or so, he does a lot for the Rockets. ------------------ Who needs teachers? I can learn my own self.
...also Bull and Dream are the only players left from the 94 championship, and I just can't let it go man! i just can't let it go!!! ------------------ Rarely is the question asked: Guns kill squirrels than REDRUM to fools across the nation?
And even if all the younger guys wok out exactly as planned and take up Bulls playing time, every team still needs to have 12 guys on the roster! ------------------
In addition, he shoots the 3 pretty darn well! ------------------ Rarely is the question asked: Guns kill squirrels than REDRUM to fools across the nation?
And even though he wasn't technically on the roster it was Bull that won the 95 championship. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams and Lisa Malosky fan club. atheistalliance.org

We best not lose AirBull, hes da man, im predicting we all see his 360 dunks and hardcore windmills again next year for the Rocks... ------------------ The Rockets Championship in 2001...Be-Steve-it
Bullard is a long shot for a roster next year. Here is why. Look at the nine players under contract for next year: 1: Francis 2: Mobley 3: Griffen, Morris, Williams, Langhi 4: Thomas 5: Cato, Collier Here is the list of the Rocks' own five FAs: 1: Norris 2: Anderson 3: 4: Taylor, Bullard 5: Dream Of the five, Bullard is the lowest priority resignee. (For those of you who hate Shandon and get your wish, the Rocks will definitely still sign another FA 2 to backup Mobley.) These five players are competing for only three roster spots. Something has to give. I personally would not mind seeing Walt waived or Morris sent to Europe for a year of seasoning (better said, a year of waiting for Walt to leave and open up his roster spot.) Go ahead. Talk among yourselves ------------------
Bullard is still a very good shooter and is a veteran who can be very important to the Rockets this year. The young players can learn a lot from him. ------------------
I still think he makes the roster. Langhi and Morris would go to the IR before Bullard, at least immediately. Collier might too, if we get a free agent center and don't lose Cato. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. Profiles, rankings, mock drafts, and more! Of those five, Bullard is also the cheapest and probably the easiest player to sign. We'd probably get the most bang for our buck with signing Bullard to the minimum, so I say sign him. Dream/Cato/Collier Taylor/Thomas/Griffin Griffin/Langhi/Morris/Williams or Bullard Cuttino/Francis/Morris or Langhi Francis/Moochie IR- Williams or Bullard We don't need a backup SG, Francis can just move over to SG whenever Moochie's in and that would give Cat his time to rest. If one of our guards gets injured we can just sign a CBA type SG to cover for whoever's gone. This is of course assuming that there won't be any trades or major FA signings during this offseason... ------------------ This post contains no smilies, you must judge my seriousness on your own...
