    30 people die each year in the US from skydiving, is that ridiculous too?

    everyone roots for the bulls. If you ever watch bull riding, the bulls make as much $$$ as the riders. They also keep stats on the bulls and they are just as popular as the riders.

    Hmmm. Let's see... you jump out of a plane thousands of feet above the Earth and depend on some swath of synthetic fabric to counter the effects of gravity just so you can get an adrenalin rush.

    Why yes, I would say that is ridiculous.

    My apologies. I though it was self-evident.

    It's ridiculous that people put their lives in danger for such a trivial matter and it's ridiculous that bulls are still used for this kind of entertainment.

    It's part of their culture?

    I promise I can find much more violent rituals amongst the Yanomomo tribes of Brazil or the Maori of New Zealand. If you called those things silly it would probably be considered racist but since Spain is a Western country its okay to call it stupid?

    Like what? Violence related to warfare and manhood serve a purpose in some societies. I don't think there's anything the Yanomamo or the Maori do that is simply to have an adrenalin rush.

    There's no great cultural underpinnings for the Bull Run. If it were stopped today, the culture of Spain would not suffer.
