Not to say Nash isnt being loyal. Just I guess its still all about getting the money you can in this economic climate. What would make Nash think the Suns have a chance to contend? Good for him though. He gets to stay in a style that suits his game and he can put up his numbers.

I think he knows that there's a decent chance his back breaks down this year. No reason to EVER risk the kind of money he'd be risking if he chose to play out this season.

I mean next summer he'd be an afterthought. On top of likely getting a 1-2 year deal, I can't imagine anyone paying him more than maybe $7 M per season or so. So you're talking about a loss of at least $8 M total (possibly more), plus the chance that his body breaks down and then he loses closer to $20 M.

I think anyone in his situation would take it

22 mil/2yrs. Wow, I wonder if that was the only offer, why would he take that? I am sure he has his money invested in various things and he will be no antoine walker, but I would be thinking longer than that, I mean he is 35

Why is it sad? If he would get an offer from a contending team that pays 21 million over 2 years, then Id say that is sad...but that isnt the case here.

If I had the option of working in a state of the art dental clinic that paid me 200K a year or a crappy, out of date office that paid me 300K per year, I would choose to work at the crappier office.

So he doesn't get the raise or third year he was rumored to be seeking?

Suns are still well over LT next season even after buying out Big Ben and if they waive Pavlovic's partially guaranteed deal. They're not even a contender...

It appears the Suns had the upper hand.

Nash can still get dealt any time... he just won't hit free agency. It's a wise choice at his age to get some security, and a good move for the Suns not onlybe because he's not a good player to have if you hope to contend (he's proven to be rather Stockton like in his old age), he's also worth more in a trade with a reasonable extension locked up.

even at his age 11 million for Nash is a steal.

Truly, at these times, only a moron or a filthy rich person would think otherwise.

I hope we can get Yao at this kind of contract.

Wow, he's overpaid big time. You won't win anything without playing some defense. 20 of 30 NBA starting PG can school Nash 1on1, I don't get why he's paid that much.

You just don't get it do you? Steve Nash hasn't been making 200k a year. Sheesh. He's got enough money to last him more then 10 lifetimes. If someone who's near the end of his career and doesn't care about winning a ring then it's sad.

And your "I would choose to work at the crappier office" is stupid. If I have a choice, I'll take $100k less and work at a healthy and safe environment.

Wow, do I really need to answer to stupid people. You make it sound like Steve Nash is dirt poor and this recession is killing him.
