Still a fail because he won't be eligible in the amateur draft. He is only a high school sophmore, so you'll have to wait 2 more years before you can discuss the Astros drafting him.
Not trying to drag this out. Is there a way we could position ourselves to be the #1 pick that year. I know the MLB Draft isn't as great as NFL or NBA are made out to be because of the long range of potential busts/superstars but could we be up there in 2 years for him?
They would need to have the worst record in baseball next year. They would probably need to do a complete rebuild in order to become worse than the Nats. Their best chance at him, assuming the guy continues to be a phenom would be for him to fall due to signability and Drayton open the purse strings.
Finally, the Astros plan is coming to light. Drayton has refused to rebuild up to this point because he's planning on doing it next year so we can tank and draft Harper. It's all so obvious now.
