ummmmmm, i think Bryce Drew should be pretty pissed by now...he's still with the rockets....can someone fill me in on which tams need a backup PG?
the only team that comes to mind for me is Philladelphia, I don't know if ther's anyone behind Snow......

Also, is this Bryce's final year?(contract)
If it is, then we sign Stacey Augmon for one year?(defense)

Then we should trade Bryce for future picks....it's clear we don't want ANY extra money on our hands next year.....we let the trade exception expire.....

we lose bryce's contract rather than trading for players with years left on their contracts......

If none of this works, and it IS his last year, just let his contract end so we can use the money......but I say we still sign Augmon, he's a very defensive small for ward, and he can help cause both our small forwards suck at defense.....

Bryce is most decidedly not pissed at the Rockets. He is well versed in the ins-&-outs of pro basketball. Like all players at this level, he just wants to get more minutes. That may mean he must go to another team.

Augie would not come here for any amount of money. He did not like the role that he would have had to play had he stayed here the first time. He would like it even worse now. Bessides, CD and RT were thourghly pissed at his remartks when they accomadated the trade back to Portland during the "fiasco Pippen crud". He came out and lambasted both these guys, after they bent over backwards giving him exactly what he wanted.

Personally, I hope we get a SF out of any Drew trade. We have four PG's now (Steve,Mooch,Cuttino,Drew) and have no SF swingman stopper. We need a SF that will instill a little fear of God when he subs in. A la Mario-style!

    Dan Majerle .... you listening.

Shandon is that type of player but nowadays SF's are height avg. is 6'9. I mean look at the top SF's Abdur-Rahim 6'9, Odom 6'10, KG 6'11, Pippen 6'7, Hill 6'8, Carter 6'7 and Bryant 6'8. All the smaller 6'7 SF's are leapers with the exception of Pippen. I assume this is the team we will go with counting Bryce Drew. He had back problems recently and I think he could be a good player to have later in the season. We do need 5 guards and if Bryce left we would be in a predicament if any guard got hurt. Injuries do happen.

Yes, but even in the platooning system that RT will attempt to put in place this season, we will have ten players rotating through a twelve player roster.

Having 1/3 of those twelve spots as guards is a roster luxury that we may just not be able to afford.

The fact that injuries "do" occur is not missed at all. But it would be best served if you remember that the 4 & 5 spots are the spots that we have been historically beseiged with injuries over the last several years. Not at the guard positions.

To extrapolate that reasoning we should have four PF's, and 4 Centers. Well I suppose we could do that, but then we would have twelve players including: 4 PG's, 4PF's and 4C's. Who would play SG and SF?

We would do just fine with Steve, Mooch and Cuttino. Maybe even Shandon in a pinch. But Drew is a roster luxury no matter how you look at it.

Bryce Drew and whatever else it takes, for George Lynch.

Oh, and Bryant is sometimes listed at 6'6" and sometimes at 6'7". I certainly don't think he's 6'8". I do think we'd do well to have a guy in the 6'8" range at small forward, but I think Shandon can put in some time there as well. At 6'6", I still think he'd be a better defender at small forward than a lot of guys taller than he is.

Is this wishful thinking or do we have a shot at Thunder Dan? Seems like he'd want to stick around on a team that has a legit shot at making the Finals ... but I'm curious if you know something we don't OeilMan!

I think the 76ers drafted Craig Claxton for a second point guard. These are some of the teams i think could use Drew:Atlanta drafted Scoonie to backup Terry but i dont think he will pan out,If Charlotte plays Davis at the 2spot they could use a backup, with Brevin going down Cleveland can also use him.

don't cleveland have 3 point guards now?

also, don't Utah always play with three playable point guards on their roster?
If that's true, and I think it is, we should trade for picks which would be PRIOR to next season, the season Utah FALL and so they'll be good pick(s)........

Sorry, I don't like the Jazz either, but haven't you noticed people have said that about the Jazz EVERY year? They actually had a productive offseason this year, and is long as Stockton/Malone are there they will be successful. I still expect them to be the 4 seed, so don't plan on getting a high pick if you do that.

The team that I thought would be interested in Drew is the Clippers. They acquired Keyon Dooling who will likely need time to develop and learn the NBA game, thus Drew could step right in. The problem with a potential deal of Drew to the Clips is that they may not be interested since they have acquired so many players already.

Drew can come off the Rockets cap next summer even if he is not dealt. The Rockets just have to decline picking up his option and he becomes a free agent in the summer of 2001.

I doubt the Sixers would want Drew as they drafted Claxton, and even if they did, I seriously doubt they move George Lynch. Lynch is the ideal Larry Brown type role player, I just cannot see Lynch being dealt, Brown is very high on him.

What kind of role does the moron (sorry) want? Is he afraid to get more than the 11-12 minutes/game he averaged in Portland? What?? MORE MINUTES?? DAMN... no way man, I can't go to Houston... they want me to play more minutes. [IMG]

I don't think the Jazz will make it past the first round, in which case Sloan will leave, Stockton will leave, and Malone won't stay..........I don't think Deshawn Stevenson is ready to carry a Franchise YET...............

So I guess the only way to make use of Drew is either let his contract run out, or trade him for picks only........
