I have had problems with browsing for some time now and have just decided to ask the people of cf.net.

Some sites just do not act appropriately. For example, while using Safari, I can do whatever I want and everything acts perfectly. I come home and I cannot access hotmail. I get this error...
So in turn I have to open a whole other browser, Moziila, to open my hotmail.

    Another example...
My wife is currently enrolled in classes online at University of Phoenix. Sometimes she does her homework at work, where she uses a PC and does not have any problems. Most of the time she does not have the time to do it at work and trys to do it at home. She uses Safari on her macbook and the online sites she uses for looking at her classes and posting homework, never show up right. Things like spell check and work count never show, and that in its self ads more steps to her homework that she does not need. She has used other browsers and it is the same thing.

All that and our internet sucks at home. 2 eMacs and a macbook and all of them craw on the net. But the 1 pc left in the house, used by my dad that is constantly dl (videos and pics), internet works fine. Now I know better than to think this is a mac issue, but think it has more to do with the router. Is it possible that only one of the ports on the back are in good working condition? OR Is it possible that the pc is hogging on the bandwidth? Now my dad claims he reset the router the other night, which the net was fixed the rest of the night but since then, the net is back like it was. I have had a working internet for about 5hrs this whole week. Whats up?

I know this is a long post but anyone that can help with any of it would be greatly appreciated. Please help. I am very frustrated...

Some people just build their sites for IE only. Though I've never really had problems with hotmail on a macbook, nor have I had issues with slow Internet.

The PC shouldn't effect the net for anything else. It definitely sounds like a router issue...(particularly since it works fine after a reset and progressively gets worse).

Try plugging directly from the modem to your system, see how the net connection is then. At least you might narrow it down to the router.

EDIT: You could also try 'resetting' Safari while on Hotmail (safari>reset safari) to see if that clears anything out.
