While discussing the "Meet the Parents" movie in that thread, this movie came to mind. It has been re-released since George Clooney won the award for Best Comedic Actor.

I think this is a great movie. It is very funny and has a lot of good music in it. Has anyone else seen it?

That movie's really good. I love that song "man of constant sorrow" too.

I don't know what happened. I don't remember half the movie. Last thing I remember wet Sirens were doing a sultry swing around me and wrapping me in their wet unmentionables. The next thing I know I woke up behind the silver screen with no clothes and melted Jujube's on my chest.

    lol!

don't worry, the guy that took you to the movie lied about the plot anyway. He just wanted to get out of the house.

That was a very enjoyable film. I came in with zero expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. The music was a highlight.

I just saw that one, too, and while it is one of those "waste of time" movies, it was very entertaining. I was pleasantly surprised.

You didn't like "Out of Sight"? I really liked that one (as well as Three Kings. I haven't seen O Brother, yet).

I have become a huge Coen brothers fan since Oh Brother. I haven't seen a movie of theirs that I didn't love.

Big Lebowski, Fargo, Barton Fink, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?

They all ruled. I haven't seen Hudsucker Proxy yet, but I hear it is funny, and I love Tim Robbins.

On a side note, the Coen brothers choose the soundtracks of their movies before they write them. In fact, they use the music they select as inspiration during the whole writing process. I found that fascinating when I heard it... more writers should do this, it automatically lends a theme to nearly every movie.

Don't forget Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing and Blood Simple. If you haven't seen those, go rent them.

Don't waste your time with The Hudsucker Proxy. One of the worst movies I've ever rented.

    RunningRaven,

Man you just missed blood simple. It was re-released in smaller art-type theaters about four or five months ago. I saw it for the first time then and I thought it was great. Francis McDormant is hot too.

    Good Morning Rocket Fans!

I loved Oh Brother! Although I did think it was one of the Coen Bros weaker efforts!

But what I really loved was the sound track!

I started a thread a few weeks ago about it!

    Its simply amazing!

After the movie, I was thinking there were probably enough songs in it to qualify as a musical. I didn't actually realize it until later, because all the songs were part of the movie, not people just spontaneously breaking into songs. I do not like musicals, by the way, but loved the music in this movie.

Clooney's dancing was too funny. Also, John Goodman's KKK hood with only one eye hole was a crack-up.

By the way, I thought "Raising Arizona" was hilarious.

    THe dude Abides.

by far, my favorite Coen Brothers film is the Big Lebowski. It could be up there near number 1 as far as comedies are concerned.

O brother was great. it is up for two oscars:
best adapted screenplay(based on Homer's "THe Odyssey")
    and Best Cinematography.

Another bit of trivia:IN the screen credits of most of their later films, they give credit to Roderick Jayne for Film Editing. In fact, there is no Roderick Jayne, the Coen Bros. still do their own editing on a flatbed table. Also, one takes producing credits, one takes directing credits, and they share screenplay credits, when in fact they pretty much do it all together.

What I like about all Coen Bros. films is their use of LOCATION within the story. In BLood Simple , they talk about Texas as a main part of the plot.

    Raising Arizona- Arizona
Fargo- Fargo, ND and minnesota(where they grew up)
    THe BIg Lebowski- Los Angeles
    O Brother- Mississippi

damn i just wrote my college thesis.
