Brosnan Favors Colin Farrell As Bond Nov 1, 9:53 AM EST The Associated Press Pierce Brosnan, the actor who has played British agent James Bond in the last four "007" films, says he thinks fellow Irishman Colin Farrell would be his ideal successor. Brosnan, 51, said several actors could ably fill his shoes for the coveted role, which he began in 1995 with "GoldenEye" and concluded with 2002's "Die Another Day." "But I'll give it to Colin Farrell. He'll eat the head off them all," Brosnan said following an entertainment awards ceremony Saturday in Dublin. Farrell, 28, appeared with Tom Cruise in the 2002 science fiction movie "Minority Report" and has the title role in Oliver Stone's forthcoming epic "Alexander." Brosnan didn't specify any other actors that he thought would make a good 007. He also said he was discussing a possible collaboration with director Quentin Tarantino, who is considering a remake of the original Bond novel, "Casino Royale." "We have discussed things, Quentin and I, but I don't know if its going to be that particular project," Brosnan said. Last October, the producers of the planned 21st Bond film, Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, informed Brosnan he'd gotten too old to be cast again as Bond. Speculation about the next Bond has since been rife, with Jude Law, Hugh Jackman, Clive Owen and Eric Bana on the list. http://entertainment.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=172029 I disagree with Pierce's choice, Colin just doesn't strike me as Bond. Also, I can't believe they think he's too old. Moore played Bond til 58. Pierce should have gotten at least one more go around.
Screw that. Thank God Brosnan is not responsible for choosing his own replacement. I don't think Farrell fits the role at all and I'm not even willing to give him a chance to prove it.
I though Brosnan was the one who decided against making another Bond film. Interesting; he could have made 1 more; doesn't look 51.
Someone here suggested Colin Salmon last time we had this discussion. It's too bad that they can't really use him (he was in Die Another Day and Tomorrow Never Dies), because IMO he'd be awesome. A black James Bond would be neat, and Colin is a great actor.
Sometimes Farrell seems good, sometimes not. But if your other options are Jude Law and Hugh Jackman (both who I like, but definitely not as Bond), no reason Farrell shouldn't be on the list. As far as Brosnan not being Bond anymore, this is great imo. The series has gotten so stale in a Charlie's Angels let's blow crap up kind of way. I wish the Bond series would return to where they were more like the current Bourne series - i.e. good action movies.
That was me.... And JayZ750, I watched Bourne Supremacy the other day - funny for me, because I worked right in that building behind the world time clock in Berlin for the past 5 months. I really liked the Bourne movies...some others really disliked them.
screw colin farrell. my vote goes for will farrell http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0302886/Ss/0302886/SS-WF-1.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Ferrell, Will
I don't think that's Brosnan's fault.....I think the series has become stale in spite of Brosnan. He has almost as much presence as Connery and more than the rest of the lot.
Jude Law just doesn't strike me as the "Bond" type... Hugh Jackman, OTOH, he could do it. He's a real man's man AND a ladies man - suave, dashing, debonaire, well spoken, the whole works. MMMMM. Hugh Jackman. Who else could play Wolverine AND Leopold and be simply fantastic?
hugh grant is too much of a pansy. Has he ever made anything remotely close to an action movie?!?! Screw him. All he's got is that accent and his ability to get arrested with prostitutes.
Not at all true!!! If you have ever watched Bridget Jones Diary you would know that Hugh Grant could certainly pull off a fight scene.
I think someone should make the joke that it was Will Ferrell that was meant, because it has only been made twice so far in this thread.
I think you're right. I like Pierce Brosnan...he definitely has the charisma, style, and acting ability to pull it off. The Thomas Crowne Affair remake was awesome. Nonetheless, the series has become stale and a change of lead will inevitably (hopefully) change that.
I think the Bourne movies are awesome. I read the first book and it was good and got half way through the second book but honestly lost interest, which is surprising cause I generally like that genre and so many people think they're great, but imo the movies are much better, which is definitely rare.
