Last year Scola started with Yao injured and then just stayed in the starting lineup, Brooks is starting for Battier, when he gets back, will Alston move to the bench? I hope so. DD
Don't get too excited. Keep an eye on the distribution of minutes if Rafer stinks it up again. That will tell you something.
Well both our PGs have been playing horribly the past few games, and I doubt RA will make AB start ahead of Rafer if they are both playing this bad. AB needs to step it up and show that he's not just as streaky as Rafer is.
AB has been horrendous in the last 5 games, even Bill Worrell mentioned that today. He was 2-12 today and made mental mistakes.
Rafer's been horrendous for the last 5 years. I've seen Ray Allen go into worse shooting slumps. It happens to the best. As far as Rafer's defense, he was getting burned 90% of the game. People look at one play at the end and ignore how many times he got burned on pick and rolls or couldn't stay in front of his man. Brooks' defense wasn't great either but he did a better job getting around picks and staying with his man. The Alston/Brooks backcourt doesn't make a lot of sense though. Start Barry or Artest when Battier is out and pick one PG.
The thing is that, why would RA choose Brooks over Rafer if they're both struggling. Replacing somebody with someone else who is just as worse at the moment makes no sense at all.
as a shooting guard? maybe it means we aren't trying to showcase Luther anymore. or maybe it has to do with Redd doesn't play defense or drive, like I anyone who runs can guard him, because once he has the ball, he doesn't care about you...such a quick release. So making him match-up to a penetrating guard is worth a try. maybe maybe no looks more like Luther and Wafer are getting beat out by Brooks in certain matchups....which we have seen before, just not to start the game. right? still sucks we can't break 90pts
Here are Alston's FGM/FGA numbers for the last 8 games, including tonight: 2-8 3-10 3-13 1-10 8-11 3-11 3-11 4-15 Brooks over the last 8 games, including tonight: 2-12 0-4 3-9 4-6 3-7 8-14 4-7 4-11 Brooks has had 2 really poor shooting nights in the last 8 games. Alston has had 7 over the same stretch. Brooks has the highest FG% of any guard on the team even after the last two poor shooting nights. All shooters go into slumps. Brooks will get out of his. What makes no sense is playing Brooks and Alston that long together.
Except it was 2 plays in the clutch. Your hate for Rafer is getting pathetic and so is your love for AB. And shooting slumps happens to the best? Please don't tell me you are comparing Brooks to Ray Allen. You are one biased person.
No, I'm not comparing Brooks as a shooter to Ray Allen. I'm saying that... IF ONE OF THE BEST SHOOTERS IN NBA HISTORY CAN GET INTO A SHOOTING SLUMP, THEN ANYBODY CAN. Try to process that. As far as being a Rafer hater, you are absolutely right. He has been the least efficient shooter in the NBA over the past 5 years and he doesn't do close to enough to compensate for that fact.
stop make excuses, if it was rafer going 2-12..........1 assist 3 turnovers, you would be flaming him......even if rafer was coming off a triple double you'd still slam him for going 2-12 in the next game........ how is he ready to start at PG getting 1 assist in 40+ minutes?
When AB started earlier he was hot but when RA was put back as a starter AB was doing too much to impress the coach and he lost his shots. AB needs to take everything back to basics, be patient and his shots would come back.
These past few games is exactly why I am a little antsy giving Brooks the reins to the team. Its not even that he is in a slump, its just that he seems to have lost confidence in himself. He was passing up open shots all game. He's supposed to be a shooter and he's passing up open 3s because he thinks he's not going to make it.
Let me repeat... RAFER HAS BEEN THE WORST SHOOTER IN THE ENTIRE NBA OVER THE LAST 5 SEASONS. Brooks has the highest FG% of all guards on the Houston Rockets even after the last two poor shooting performances. Alston isn't some stellar playmaker like Chris Paul or Jason Kidd. To be as bad of a shooter as he is, he would have to be to justify being a starting PG. Yet he's not. No, I'm not going to flame Brooks for 2 poor shooting performances given how well he has shot most of this season. If he continues to shoot like this for the next several games, then I'll be concerned. If he continues this for the rest of the season, I'll be seriously concerned and the flaming will begin. As far as assists, check the stats. As a starter, Brooks is averaging nearly the same amount of APG while shooting much more efficiently. Tonight he was playing SG much of the game. Alston had 3 assists and was playing the point whenever he was in the game. He also shot 2-8 and has been horrible over the last 8 games other than one 8/11 night.
