Let's say we have 8 million dollars to spend.

Which group do you like better?

    Brook Lopez, Thomas, Jeff Green

    MCW, James Ennis, Melo

Lopez is stretch 5, but we can play him 26 minutes a game (Clint and Brook 26 minutes a game, 4 minutes at PF)

If we have Thomas, we can rest Paul more time.

Jeff Green is much better defender than MCW, James Ennis and Melo.

Brook Lopez would be a fun backup center for us to have, but he'd probably be unplayable against GSW.

    Who is Saiah Thomas?

No interest in IT. Brook Lopez wouldn't bring us anything that we need.

Jeff Green I guess is arguable for some people. He's better than MCW.

I guess of the six I'd say
    Ennis
    Melo
    Jeff Green
    Brook Lopez
    IT
    MCW

MCW is what drags our combination down but he has upside to at least give you some defensive minutes against Golden State.

Either way, I think there's a chance Melton beats him out and MCW doesn't play for us.

    I'll rate them like this:

(5 points) Meh in both regular season and playoffs:
    - James Ennis

(4 points) Useful in the regular season, likely not in the playoffs:
    - Brook Lopez

(3 points) Hopefully good in the regular season, unplayable in the playoffs:
    - Melo
    - Isaiah Thomas

    (2 points) Sucks:
    - Jeff Green
    - MCW

So looks like MCW/Ennis/Melo beat Lopez/Saiah/Green by a score of 10-9.

Taking the laziest approach. I'm going to use the infamous CARMELO system:

    https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/carmelo/

I'm attaching to each of the six players the average of the next five year of projected market value.

    Group 1
    BL - 3.1m
    IT - (0.66m)
    JG - 2.024m
    = Total 4.464m

    Group 2
    MCW - 6.604m (!!!)
    JEIII - 2.58m
    Melo - (0.06m) (!!!)
    = Total 9.124m

It's interesting that 538 gives MCW such a high projection. Also the Melo signing has a bunch of unknown factors (system change, reputation on the line, chemistry etc) that renders the -0.06m easy to beat imo.

Listen Carmelo has the highest ceiling, lowest floor, and has proved the most out of anyone on your list.
The other two fit better with our current team need, Isiah Thomas is a volume scorer, thats not really our M.O.
Lopez is nice, but our "bigs" are more the lob city, can defend multiple position bigs. Good Talent, not good fit.

Brook Lopez - the Ryan Anderson of centers
Saiah Thomas - literally no idea who this is (EDIT: just realized this is Isaiah... he would be unplayable and redundant)
    Jeff Green - perennial underachiever

MCW - one of the worst shooters in the league
James Ennis - had no idea who this was
    Melo - perennial underachiever

Tough option, but I take option 2 because of Melo's potential upside playing with CP3, alone.

What kind of thread is this??

You have 3 legit bums vs 2 rotation players and MCW on a non-guaranteed minimum contract.

All of Jeff Green, Lopez and Sarah Thomas were negatives both offensively and defensively for their teams.
Jeff Green has had exactly 1 (ONE) season in his 10 season NBA career that his team was better with him ON the floor as opposed to being OFF the floor. One time in ten years. And that was his 3rd season in the league playing alongside Durant, Westbrook and Harden.

I have no interest in someone like IT, and I don’t like Brook Lopez...Jeff Green is better than MCW, but he’s still not all that good

IT isn’t coming here to get table scrap minutes as the 3rd guard behind 48 minutes of HOF level PG play anyways...u can’t play him with Harden, and u can’t play him with CP3 because that will be the smallest backcourt in the NBA...IT is just a name brand signing

I will take Ennis and Melo hopefully bouncing back and not being as atrocious as he was last year over that other group

Green would have been a ideal replacement for Luc and cover somewhat of Trevor’s game
