straight from ESPN.com: Britney Spears and NASCAR will be coming to a theater near you. The racing league and Spears' production company announced on Monday plans for a NASCAR-themed movie in which Spears will star. The untitled project is currently in the preliminary writing and development stage and will be written by Jim Hart ("Contact," "Hook"). Spears is slated to co-star as the daughter of a NASCAR team owner who uses her knowledge and experience in the family business to inspire a former NASCAR driver to regain his desire to return to NASCAR racing. "One of NASCAR's objectives is to grow our sport by developing entertainment projects that introduce NASCAR drivers, teams, tracks and their sponsors to an ever-growing audience," said NASCAR vice president of broadcasting Paul Brooks. "We have received numerous movie concepts set in the world of NASCAR, but chose this project because it is a great story that embraces our true, genuine sport as its backdrop. Britney Spears' involvement will help us reach an untapped fan base while serving our core fans with the authentic NASCAR experience." The Sports Business Journal reported that NASCAR will help to market the film, which will contain race footage and drivers appearing as themselves. NASCAR will receive licensing fees for use of race footage and tracks will be paid for access, according to the Sports Business Journal's report, and have a "profit participation in the end gross." The movie is expected to cost $50 million. "Britney herself has a lot of the values that represent NASCAR and her dad is a big NASCAR fan," said Brooks. "She is close with her family, she's from Louisiana and represents true Americana." The London Sun had reported earlier that Spears was a fan of "Days of Thunder," and the new NASCAR movie would begin filming in October. "We are excited to be working with the NASCAR family," said Ann Carli of Spears' production company. "Our goal is to create a film that honestly portrays the spirit of NASCAR. It is not just about winning -- it's about family, perseverance and the belief that any dream is possible." This movie would not be Spears' first foray into the NASCAR world. The singer served as grand marshal of the 2001 Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway. God help us all.
I can see the ad campaign now. "All The Rubber Bouncing around on a hard surface, all the screeching coming out of God-knows where ... and wait until you see the racing sequences.
Hmmm... Something tells me that a bubblegum, manufactured "star" like Britney Spears wouldn't go well with NASCAR. I'm sure that all my friends who like NASCAR are going to rush out and buy "Oops, I Did It Again."
Just like you did, eh Manny? NeckCAR and Spears, together. Well at least they shiould have no problem getting the redneck idiot demographic.
Can Britney actually "inspire" someone to do anything besides wanting to jump her bones? She's hardly a muse or anything. Analogy: If someone was going to commit suicide and jump from a high building, do you really think Britney Spears is the correct choice to talk them down? Sure, it's not the same situation at all, but you gotta think that this ex-NASCAR guy has hit rock-bottom and is wasting his life away (isn't that the cliche plotline?). If anything, her role in the film should be that of a hot chick waving the checkered flag. Nothing more.
i mean this is a joke right? is this girl still around? somebody assure me shes going to fade away nice and quick like the spice girls or tiffany. i mean im not going to have to read this **** for the rest of my life am i? i mean cant anyone here but me see this girl is not talented at all? "HAS THE WHOLE WORLD GONE CRAZY!!! AM I THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO GIVES A **** ABOUT THE RULES?!?!" -john goodman, the Big Labowski
sorry, but i think she'll be sticking around for a while... she's already well into her 16th minute of fame and doesn't seem to be nervously staring at the clock...
nah i can see it ending pretty soon... there is no substance to anything she does.. eventually shell be 25 and shell be too old for the teens to relate to, and shell still be too empty for anyone her age to apreciate anything she does as being valuble art. the end is coming soon. i have never hated any famous person as much as i hate this girl. but i love you holden.
I'm wondering just how much actual NASCAR racing we'll see in this film....? If it is a standard 120 or so minute film, i'm guessing about 5 or 6 minutes. The rest will be of Britney saying, "You can do it....you are still good enough to race cars...." etc, etc, etc...while wearing a skimpy outfit that will have absolutely no purpose to the film whatsoever, except so Britney can show off her legs and cleavage yet again. I'm sick of Britney and her fake innocent little girl attitude.
why do we all hate britney? her annoying voice? the fake boobs? shes making lots of money for jumping around and whatever... and we dont? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... i hate you britney spears. I HATE YOU.
people wanna throw money at her. what can you do? reminds me of my friend the other day. he once wrote he's 'not a boy, not yet a man' in this online community we're in. just the other day, someone mentioned this in front of a few girls, it was funny seeing him pretend not to remember he wrote that and the he really wasn't a brit fan. i knew all that was gonna bite him in the ass one day.
