    Spears Confirms Engagement

    BRITNEY SPEARS is going for it one more time, baby! ET has confirmed that Britney is engaged to backup dancer KEVIN FEDERLINE. Yes, the 22-year-old is ready to walk down the aisle again, but this time she's apparently going to take a more traditional route.

    Her 55-hour Las Vegas marriage to childhood friend JASON ALEXANDER back in January ended in an annulment. And Federline has been by Britney's side consistently as she recovers from arthroscopic surgery on her knee, which forced her to cancel the remainder of her Onyx Hotel Tour. Marrying Federline will also make Britney a step-mom -- he has a 2-year-old with actress SHAR JACKSON, who's also currently pregnant with his second child.

    Our STEVEN COJOCARU chatted with Britney last February following her first short-lived marriage. At that time the pop princess said: "Honestly, I really wanted to see what it was like to be married ... maybe that sounds silly, but, in that moment, I was with a friend that I love dearly and I wanted to do something wild and crazy and I wanted to get married. So that's why I did it."

    People magazine has the exclusive on the story and the couple is expected to do the a new interview and cover shoot for next week's issue.

    No wedding date is known as of yet!

    I'm so happy for her.

    I thought Jen Lopez had already done the whole marry-your-backup-dancer thing, but then sometimes i'm not totally up on pop culture.

    I like to see young people following in the footsteps of the older generation. Who knew Britney and Jennifer Lopez would decide to follow in the footsteps of Liz Taylor and Zsa Zsa Gabor.

    This will be a disaster. Is really that hard for her to find herself a nice guy, she has to marry a douche bag who dances for a living and left already has a baby on the way with another women?

    Pop tart Britney Spears is getting hitched for the second time this year - this time to a professional dancer father whose girlfriend of three years is due to give birth to their son next month.

    ``I can confirm that yes, she is engaged,'' said Sonia Muckle, a representative of Spears' record label, Jive Records.

    Spears, 22, and Kevin Federline, 26, have not yet set a date, Muckle said, but an online Web site said the couple already has planned to choose their wedding gifts from Crate & Barrel, Bloomingdale's and the NASCAR Store.

    Spears has been unpopularly referred to as a ``homewrecker'' by fans as well as Federline's girlfriend, actress Shar Jackson, of TV's ``Moesha.''


    ``She can't wreck a home by herself, but if you're a real woman and you find out someone you're seeing has extra baggage, you say, `Go home and take care of your business,' '' Jackson told US Magazine in an exclusive interview. ``If she and Kevin want to be a couple, then that's fine with me. But there are two little kids she better be prepared to babysit. They might be perfect for each other. You both smoke, you both drink and you both cheated on significant others after three years. You guys are made for each other. Have a good life.''

    Jackson is the mother of Federline's 2-year-old daughter, Kori, and is expected to deliver a son next month.

    Spears is reportedly living with Federline as she recuperates from knee surgery that was necessary after she injured herself during a video shoot.

    The passion-filled relationship started months ago, but Federline only called Jackson to tell her the news April 26. Within days, he told Jackson he was going to Japan to shoot a Coke commercial, but instead was flown by Spears to England, where he helped her kick off the European tour.

    The romance attracted media spotlight when the couple returned to Spears' five-star Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge and begged the staff to open the pool after her show at the Wembley Arena.

    Both Spears and Federline stripped naked and went for a dip, according to multiple Web sites.

    The two began dating a few months ago, after Spears' wedding to childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas in January.

    That marriage was annulled within days.
