I just heard on 610 AM that Troy Murphy announced he's going pro (and the confirmation of Jason Richardson). Apparently, he's not hiring an agent and could pull out. I found this Troy Murphy. So, here's who's in the draft (in order of how high I think they'll go, not counting the seniors): Eddy Curry Eddie Griffin Tyson Chandler Jason Richardson Troy Murphy Rodney White Richard Jefferson Michael Bradley Michael Wright Steven Hunter Kevin Lyde Damien Wilkens Brandon Armstrong Zach Randolph Bobby Simmons Gilbert Arenas Jason Gardner Key Undecided (*-announced to officially declare soon) Desagana Diop* Ousmane Cisse* Jason Kapono Joe Forte Yao Ming Jason Collins Joe Johnson Carlos Boozer Omar Cook Gerald Wallace Rod Grizzard Desagna Diop Kenny Satterfield I'll amend this list as necessary, also heard that Gadzuric is returning to UCLA. I wouldn't be to surprised to see a change of mind. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure. man I am gitty about the Rockets and the Draft!!! The Rockets have 2 sure picks (their own and the Bucks pick) The Rockets may get the Orando obligation settled via Dallas. And the Rockets may get the Detroit obligation as well. Geez that is 4 draft picks in this deep draft!! Sweet. ------------------
This draft looks alot better then last year. I doubt guys like Moiso would be in the 1st round in this draft. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
I hope Troy Murphy plays nothing for us. I don't want him on this team. He'd either be a slow 3, or a weak 4. Either way he's at a disadvantage, and his advantage over the players he would be guarding aint scaring anybody. ------------------
tpl, Murphy was that after his sophomore season which is why he needed another season to develop and did well staying at Notre Dame. However, he has shown himself this season to be much better at establishing low post position and a much better scorer around the hoop. I have been very happy with his improvement and hope the Rockets consider him among other possible choices. Btw Murphy's NBA position is the 4 spot. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net [This message has been edited by MManal (edited April 11, 2001).]
With this many big men in the draft, we should have a good chance to pick up Woods, Haywood, Murphy, or Ming(If he slips like the Sun's Center). I prefer Woods over the other three, but all four are pretty good. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
I just don't know how Murphy is going to fare at the pro level. Getting position on college compeitiotion is different than banging with the big boys. Maybe Murphy will prove me wrong, but I just don't think he's going to be that great. ------------------
We need someone that can play great defense. I dont think Murphy fits that need. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
NIKE I thought Battier would've been a first round pick ? Has he not declared yet or is he just no good? ------------------
Dr, if I may, I'll answer. Nike's list is underclassmen. Battier is a senior and most definately a first round pick. ------------------
The Doctor is out! Where have you been? Used to see you on here all the time... By the way, does anybody know if Troy Murphy is related to Jay Murphy (Boston College) who had a similar but not equal game and enjoyed a brief NBA career in the late 80's and early 90's or thereabouts? ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils. Moe is correct. Some of the seniors who are near lock first rounders are: Battier, Woods, Haywood, Jones, Johnson, Morris, and Tinsley. There are a slew of others like Scalabrine, Wolfram and Sasser and such that are on that teetering edge between late 1st/early 2nd. The list has grown. Enter Randolph, Arenas, and Gardner. Also, Depaul Junior Bobby Simmons has entered (from ESPN). Sam Clancy is staying in school. As another thread noted, Diop and Cisse are said to be declaring for the draft. The draft is deep this year. Rockets can get 2 very decent players in the first round. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
I thought NIKE's list was a list of his first round predictions... oops! (shows how much attention I've been paying to college ball this year...) ------------------
