The Rockets are 500 against the "all-powerful" West with wins over the Suns, Lakers, and "much improved" Mavs and Sonics.

The Rockets are 500 on the road.

The Rockets are protecting their home court at 7-3.

All that while Anderson, Taylor, Williams are subpar, Cato/Collier out hurt, Dream,Francis,Thomas,Mooch no better than last year. Imagine the Rockets actually playing up to their potential!

In 2nd place, only 3 games behind the Jazz for the lead in the Midwest Division after the first quarter of the season has been played.

And now with a chance to really make some noise by finishing out 2000 strong against some western conference powerhouses. If they want national respect, they have their chance to earn it over the next 2 weeks.

With all the hype Dallas has been getting and the "blockbuster" trade that brought Ewing to Seattle, both teams are currently on the outside looking in.

    Positive enough for ya?

"Dream,Francis,Thomas,Mooch no better than last year."

    Positive post!

Francis has cut his turnover ratio & Dream is having (thus far) a much more productive season.

    regards

Francis' turnovers and assists are both down. I imagine his ratio is slightly improved, but not significantly. I don't know what you're seeing in Dream's production.

But that's the positive! Francis will undoubtedly make gains over his rookie season, but that's still to come. Even though he's only producing at his rookie level, the team has still been successful. When he improves, look out!

We are really just getting started. The record is definitly positive but look what we've done it against. The Western Conference. We have some badass competition hell even Golden State would be better than Boston out East. But then Boston and the GSW are the examples showing our youth and incosistency. We are going to continue to grow as a team but we need our players to get healthy and start getting used to a playing rotation that can be excepted even though guys deserve more time. Personally Carlos Rogers situation makes me almost wanna cry. But what should Rudy do. Ah well we will be somewhere between 5th and 8th seed no doubt. But what will matter in the playoffs is Mobley calming down Steve getting personally aggressive and dishing when they are tired of him destroying them, and Cato and Mo realizing what they are as players and how to inject their games into the system. Shandon must drive and shoot when it presents itself and it needs to be presented to hom more consistently. If Dream stays healthy but also within himself and the new team order we will make real noise come playoff time. Moooooochiiieee!

I could care less about Steve's turnovers and bad shooting percentage because he made up for it in every other facet of his game. Am I the only one that wanted him to stick that dunk he missed??? That woulda been his best dunk of the year. He went down the paint and got up too high and hit the back of the rim. Sweet none the less.

Tb- I'm seeing dream shoot 50% as opposed to 45%, a big difference, I'm seeing a much more active defensive presence -- steals are up from last year, blocks down, although he has been improving steadily in that category over this season; outside of the stats, Hakeem is way more protective of the basket, coming over with a vengeance from the weakside as opposed to watching layups like he did last year.

and finally . . . Dream has played in every damn game! That in itself is a major improvement.

Here's something positive for you, HeyPee. You already know this, although I haven't seen you post it yet. When KT came in for Dream, he played very good defense on Marc Jackson. Jackson has some very good moves for a big man. He hit his first shot against KT, but I considered it very lucky, considering KT anticipated his spin and was right in his face when he shot. He continued to play very well against the guy. I can't give you stats, but his defensive play jumped out at me.

If the Rockets beat Denver, I will believe. If they can stick it to a young, mediocre team, they will have improved in my opinion. If they have a letdown against Denver, I will lose hope. They have to develop consistency, and they can start by beating the Nuggets. If the Rockets do lose to the Nuggets, I would not be suprised to see them beat the Spurs. That is what the Rockets are usually like. I would not be happy with that, though. How about a five game winning streak.

I think we're alright considering we were thin in the front court before the season....and we have no Cato right now. That'll help so much. Cato can get a board and weakside shot block when Mo or KT or Cat, etc... get burned. I see us as a 7 in the West....hopefully. Especially if SA and the Gizzard get hot.
