I know I already posted this thread once, but part of the reason I'm posting it again is that I'm starting to change my mind about Rudy. I love the guy, but it is starting to look like his time is running out.

When a team starts slowly night in and night out, the only one you can look at, in my opinion, is the coach. Rudy is obviously not motivating the players in the right way. This has been a chronic problem all year. Whereas at the beginning of the season the players had the energy and stamina to make huge runs in the second half, at this point in the season they just don't have the gas in the tank. It's really pathetic to watch.

So, if we take the stance that Rudy is not motivating the players, and that he is looking more and more doomed with every passing game, I think it's time to consider a coach who will get the absolute MOST out of this team. Enter Michael Jordan.

Some of you might think this is ridiculous, but I think MJ would jump at the chance to coach this team. His competitive drive is so awesome, and I think he would be tempted to coach a player of Ming's caliber. Even though he USED to own part of the Wizards franchise (he had to sell his chunk in order to come back and play), the chance to go up against his former coach, Phil Jackson, and to get into the mix in the ultra-competitive Western Conference, would probably motivate him to do it.

I just don't think he'll ever be happy in the front office. He wants to be on the court. I say that Les Alexander couldn't spend ENOUGH to get Jordan to agree to coach this team. For one thing, he already was practically a player-coach on the Bulls, and he is a legend when it comes to motivating teammates to play with focus and determination. It has become apparent that Rudy is not doing a very good job developing the younger players, and Jordan may be just the fix for that.

Could you imagine the Rockets touring around with Jordan as coach and Ming as center? It would definitely continue to raise the profile of the team, and at the same time I think it would reap positive benefits on the court.

    My two cents.

That idea makes perfect sense. That's why it will NEVERhappen.

MJ is on the other side of the fence, along with Malone and Stockton. His heart would never be that of a Rocket!!

Yeah, I can also imagine a guy who owns 49% of one team coaching another. This will never work because that's ridiculous.

    PLEASE LOCK THIS THREAD.

Why doesn't Les Alexander go coach the Clippers.

Does he really own that much of the Wizards? I'm not saying he doesn't, but that would shock me. Also, didn't he have to give up his shares (or put them in trust?) to become a player again?

I think that's what it started out at, but I may be wrong, but you are right about him having to give up some of the ownership. But he is still a part owner.
