Moochie Norris is simply a worst backup for Stevie. Enough said. I think it's time to do a trade with the Knicks to get Charlie Ward. I know it's kinda hard because some no-brain people in the Rockets organization had given out many bad contracts to players didn't deserve to receive. Moochie is one whose contract will not be expired till after 2005. And a guy like Cato actually makes $7 million a year, thanks to Rudy T.

How about sending a future 1st rounder + Moochie to the Knicks for Charlie Ward + Knicks' future 2nd rounder? Ward should have no problem fitting into Van Gundy's system.

The only way you're going to move moochie is if you package him with Griffin. And another player. And picks. And cash. Then, maybe, if the other team is hungry.

Dream trade, Ward and Thomas for Griffin, Boki, Moochie + pick, cash. Sadly, the NY players are better than our players, and better contracts. So, basically, Forget It.

wow....i know moochie sucks but so does Ward. His shooting sucked last game but he had like 0 turnovers and 6 assists. Give him a break.

His contract is not a cap killer(yes...it sucks)....Cato would be worth what he makes for another team. The only $hit contract we have left is MoT.

The lakers wouldn't want Moochie. I was lucky enough to get courtside seats to a laker game 2 years ago and I heard Phil Jackson making fun of Moochie Norris.

I thought Charlie Ward was the starting quarterback at Florida State?

    OK. Will do. :)

I heard Jackson telling Derek Fisher to pressure Moochie as soon as he crosses half-court and he would dribble down the clock. And what do ya know, he was right. Fisher would get up on Mooch once he passed half-court and Mooch would sit there dribbling for another 5-7 seconds before he would pass the ball. By that time the shot clock would be down to around 10 seconds. Phil Jackson looked over to one of his assistant coaches with a smile on his face, chuckled, and then said, "Told ya."

That is funny. OK, let's us trade mooch for Kidd then. Kidd must be delighted to join Houston rather than the deflated on-the-move NJ now. Haha.

Packaging Moochie with the trade exception is also a possibilitiy. I suspect if the trade exception is used, the Rocks will be the middle man in a trade and will get to dump their bad contracts in the process. As an aside, Nachbar might get swapped in a similar trade for a player or another first round pick.

Someone needs to explain to me how on one hand you can complain about how bad Moochie is and on the other hand how you expect to be able to trade him to another team. IOW, Rockets' fans see Moochies inability to produce (and posssibly lose his minutes to Mike Wilks) but 28 NBA GM's are oblivious to the fact?

    As I see it...
    1) Even with a trade exception, no one is going to give you a player of more value unless that player has a worse contract. Which defeats the whole point as Moochie will only max out at ~ $4.3m in his final contract year.

    2) Early in the summer, a reliable source (OP) stated that he believed Moochies final two contract years were a team option.

    3) If Wilks does take Moochies PT, Martyn is a prime candidate to leave unprotected in next summers' Charlotte expansion draft. Here are the absolute 6 (of the 8 allowed) I see as protected...SF/YM/CM/EG/MoT/Cato.

Considering Charlotte will only have ~$30m salary cap, a vet PG making ~ $3.6m with a team option might be an attractive alternative to the higher salaries many other teams will try to dump.

Conclusion - keep him and let's live with it.

Although Moochie played like a school girl last year, I still think there's time to make up for it. Personally, I think Moochie gives the Rockets more than Charlie Ward. Mooch is one of the best penetrators/finishers on the team, as we have seen in years before last season. Give him time to show that he still has something to contribute....then trade him.

" Moochie one of the best finishers......." ? all he did was missing layups after layups last year. I don't call that finishing. His free throw is horrendous for a guard. People need to realize that this guy isn't good anymore eventhough he's quick. I think all this happen when the NBA changed some of the rules and the zone defense really robbed his game.

Sir, I take personal OFFENSE at this statement. My daughter's 8th grade team played better than Moochie last year. This is an insult to all schoolgirl basketball players everywhere. I demand an apology!
