BRING BACK FRANCIS!!!!PLEEEEASE!! I get a little sick to my stomach listening to all of you this year...here's why. last year I remember defending SF because all of you were bashing him for not buying into JVG's system. That JVG was our future and SF and crew were bringing it all down, that it was all their fault, because of them we were going nowhere.....well now here we are less than a year later and ALL of you have changed into JVG haters...JVG is the problem he is bringing us down.....don't get me wrong I am a firm believer that it has been JVG from the beginning, but for so many of you to abandon your original followings makes me sick....SF was our franchise, our superstar...we watched him grow and develop into a playoff berth bringing star...then...ran him out of town, and why.... well WE all felt that Yao needed to be our leading scorer and we needed a crew that would be willing to have a pass to Yao first shoot second mentality...so we trade everyone to put a two-time SCORING chmpion next to Yao????? Now Tmac is our first option with Yao a distant second??? I will forever be a rockets fan and I will continue to watch everygame no matter how much it sickens me, but this year is over, we have a terrible team with terrible management....and terrible fans.... So keep on with the JVG hating, this the team that all of you wanted last year...I hope you are happy
we dont' have enough threads like this here frankly. keep up the great work. we're all counting on you.
Amen Brother. I agree with you whole-heartedly, but it is dangerous to use the term "crappy fans" when speaking about the majority of the people here on the BBS. Anyways, preach on brother, preach on!
Well...maybe "terrible fans" was a bit harsh, but I really couldn't find a better way to put it. And I was interested to see the rebuttle by the particular fans I singled out, but we've yet to hear from them.....?
Francis ain't coming back. Like it or not. This is the team we have to deal with. T-Mac and Yao have hardly been this teams biggest problems. The rest of the team just doesn't hit shots on a consistent basis. Now really, couldn't this just have gone into the other trillion threads of the same ilk?
So, RocketFan4ever, ever hear the expression "hindsight is 20-20?" Something tells me you haven't. But anyway, thanks for such an insipid, er inspiring thread!
No I believe it deserved its own thread and I still do. I know Francis isn't coming back, I know Tmac and Yao aren't our only problems...all I want is to point out to you, all of you, that this time last year you were all praising JVG's "system" putting Yao on a pedastal and blaming Francis....It was thought that moving SF was the answer no matter who we got in return...now I know as fans of a struggling team it makes us feel better to have something or someone to blame and we all dream up "the answer" to our teams' problems in our heads and then we come here, post it and defend it. Last year it was TRADE FRANCIS over and over again because he wasn't buying into the system and thats the reason we were losing. Even though it was so obvious he completely changed his game to JVG's liking you still blamed him and held him as being the key to our success...or our demise. So I say again to the majority...this is the SF'less team that you wanted, that you created more or less....so start enjoying it.....
If the trade was reversed, right now, on the spot .... I give it two solid weeks before posts come flooding in: "Do you think we could package Francis and Mobley ... and maybe one of our contracts like Cato or Mo Taylor for Tracy McGrady? It works on RealHype! That would ROCK!"
this is NOT the team that the trade was made for. it's just not. the surrounding pieces aren't in place yet.
haha i think Cat is who we miss. he could hit shots... sometimes... it's good to have a third option.
i agree with that. i'd love to have cat on this team. love it. he would be a great fit. sadly, it took giving him up to get McGrady. that's ok. we'll find the guys to piece around these players. my biggest concern is yao. if he doesn't develop into the center we hoped he would, all of this may be spitting in the wind anyway.
I have and always will be a huge Steve Francis fan (in my heart he will always be a Rocket). I was, however, in favor of the trade to get TMac, simply because you have to make that trade when a player of TMac's caliber is on the table. This does not mean that I believe that Steve was the problem. Steve was not the problem and once more his play masked alot of Yao's weaknesses. How you say? Because as long as Steve was here, he would be Yao's scape goat. As long as people had Steve to blame Yao would never bear his fair share of criticism for the teams poor performance. So now Steve is gone and people are still making excuses for Yao. Pitiful. When Steve was traded this was supposed to become Yao's team, he was supposed to be ready to excel, TMac was to be the second option behind our dominant big man... that plan has so far been a resounding success... What's done is done however and this team will only go as far as Yao takes us. We can only hope that he wakes up and plays to his potential, since that team was basically gutted for him.
I totally agree. I mean Yao, come on man, your getting rebounds ripped away by Pachilia (sp?). Who the hell is that? Before last nite I would have even know he played in the NBA. Simple point, Yao needs to set up and be all of his 7ft 6in stature. He needs to play big!
I told you so . . . I told you so . . . whatever -- you've brought nothing original and only hindsight. I'll make that trade 24/7 365 days a year. I love Francis, but he's not as good as TMAC, period. With or without JVG, in the long run this trade will be positive for the Rockets. So stop whining like a LB.
I agree with your sentiments except I've been leery of JVG from the start. I was leery about the trade because it seemed like we were giving away too much, 1 superstar and two other starters for 1 superstar. What's also bothered me is that this trade and many of the retooling efforts were partially meant to get a team that would play hard for JVG unlike the Rudy built teams. So what do we have now. A team that plays even less for JVG than a Rudy built team last year. Hindsight is 20 / 20 and while I was leery not even in my most pessimistic times did I think we would end up like this. What the trade and where we are now has done though is reinforced my belief that JVG has failed as a motivator which is a prime skill needed for an NBA coach.
I understand that, but foundations of champions don't lose home games to expansion teams after being embarrassed by said expansion team just a few days earlier. Maybe we all need to chill on the this is the foundation of a champion till they start playing like it.
