ESPN: Griese Out 3 Weeks Okay, I suffered nearly the exact same injury my senior year of football. It took me four weeks to return, and I wasn't the quarterback. I played linebacker so the shoulder wasn't nearly as important. I don't see how he could come back in 3 weeks and put the sort of strain NFL QBs put on their arms (It was his throwing shoulder). Of course, I didn't have the sort of technology and professional trainers the Denver Broncos have, but I was in a sling for 3 of the 4 weeks I was out. Ouch - this could be a devestating blow for Denver. Griese was developing into a star QB and leading the Broncos possibly back to the playoffs. The article says also that guard Mark Schlereth is having knee surgery and his career is most likely over. Another big loss. The Broncos season now hinges on two things, IMHO. Can Frerotte step in and keep the offense humming and can Terrell return to his old form and carry a heavier load. They're going to need these two guys to step up big time or it's all over. It wouldn't hurt if the defense would quit giving up so many points either. Man, that Raider game was one hard-hitting grudge match, wasn't it? Great game! So, are Raider fans happy or disappointed that the chances of a rematch in the playoffs have just diminished? It's not a foregone conclusion either way but Denver's been getting by largely on Griese's arm this year and losing him may result in a few more losses. 9-7 isn't gonna do it. ------------------

Hey, I didn't say it was the end. I was just wondering if you might be worried about another late season fade. There's, what? 6 games left? Plenty of time to finish 8-8. Just messing with you, man. It's just fun, as a Bronco fan, to rip the Raiders. I've only been a Bronco fan a few years (Oilers moved to Tenn and I moved to Denver) but I have a friend in Denver that's been a Bronco fan all his life. He once told me that the Broncos could go 2-14 but, if those 2 wins came against the Raiders, that would make the season. No love lost there. On the potential loss to the Chargers... well, they blew it to 0-4 New England and 0-6 Cincinatti already this year. Why not 0-10 San Diego? They're pretty schizo this year - contenders one week, Bengal fodder the next. I won't cry if Frerotte blows it, just shake my head and hope for next year. I don't know what I'm gonna do when the Texans start playing. I guess the Broncos will have to take the back seat then. ------------------
