Sorry if this has been posted but I haven't seen it. Excellent analysis on the difference between Carr and Schaub. Sorry, embedding has been disabled, so you have to click the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMd3FdudDH0
This is why a lot of us have been saying for years that Carr sucks, he just doesn't have it. Whether that is from too many hits or just that he is not a quick enough thinker, it is irrelevant, the bottom line is that he is just not the guy. Too bad they could not have seen this last year....... But I really like Schaub, and am hopeful.....a good QB can lift up the whole team, there is talent in Houston, just not a belief they can win. That can turn around in a hurry. DD
Pentium 2 chip...ROFL. Can't wait till next season. Or at least till later in the summer when the Astros play like an MLB team.
I guess Carr was a 286! The Carr fumble play with 2 open receivers was kind of disturbing. I stuck up for Carr last year but damn, that's horrible. IIRC, we pretty much went straight running plays after that play.
Dave: Hello, SCHAUB do you read me, SCHAUB? SCHAUB-9000: Affirmative, Dave, I read you. Dave: Open the locker room doors, SCHAUB . SCHAUB-9000: I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I just can't do that. Dave: What's the problem? SCHAUB-9000: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do. Dave: What are you talking about, SCHAUB? SCHAUB-9000: This mission is far too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
That breakdown was very interesting. That's the first time I have seen a video clip showing the receivers down field when the pocket breaks down on Carr. So many of us complain that he plays poorly because he gets hit so much and his receivers don't have time to get open. That was a pretty good example for the "Carr can't make his progressions" camp, albeit just one example. If you looked hard enough, you could probably find a few plays where Manning or even Shaub got sacked or threw the ball away with open receivers last year. But I like what I hear about Schaub. I've come to the conclusion after 5 years of Carr, the guy with the arm and the talent, that having a great arm and talent can be very overrated. I'd rather have a guy that makes the right progressions and reads, and gets rid of the ball at the right times. IF Schaub can be that guy, then this team will be greatly improved next season and in seasons to come. If not...well, chalk up another bad contract to an unproven QB.
i'm pumped!!!!! in addition to the passing game, we've seen some video now to indicate schaub is a pretty mobile guy.
1) we don't have the personnel to run atlanta's offense.. 2) anybody notice that giant "excalibur" sword on the wall? lol
we're not running atlanta's offense. he noted similarities in the bootleg that's run in both places. schaub is used to that already. and from the limited action we saw from the tape, looks pretty comfortable in that.
Yeah, that was intriguing. I hadn't heard much about Schaub's athleticism, but I kind of assumed he was pretty strictly a pocket passer, but looking at that scramble in that video, I'd say he's at least as fast as Carr.
some of you guys are setting yourself up for the same disappointment you did with carr. let's wait to see what this guy does in a sixteen game season.
